NABF is the twenty-third production season of The Simpsons. Al Jean served as the showrunner for most of the season while Matt Selman served as the showrunner for NABF20 and NABF22. The episodes mostly aired in broadcast season 22 on Fox, with seven rollover episodes from the production season airing in broadcast season 23. The episodes aired from November 21, 2010 with "The Fool Monty", to December 11, 2011 with "Holidays of Future Passed".

After a pigeon breaks its wing flying into the Simpson house, Bart looks after him until he recovers. However, Santa's Little Helper eats his new pet. Bart is taken to therapy where the Simpsons are told they need to get rid of the family dog.

Moe and Smithers turn Moe's into "Mo's", a trendy gay bar. However, Moe struggles with the new customers thinking that he is gay. Meanwhile, Principal Skinner uses Bart to get closer to dating a substitute music teacher after finding out that he is dating her daughter.

Homer becomes obsessed with a 1980s family sitcom and starts acting like the show's father so he does not give Bart a dirt bike he wants. Bart then realizes that he can sell secrets about the nuclear power plant to other countries, so he agrees to sell them to China in exchange for a dirt bike.

Bart's cartoon Angry Dad gets turned into a movie starring Homer as the voice of Angry Dad, which becomes a huge critical success. But when it starts to win awards, Homer claims them instead of Bart, leading to Bart figuring out a way to shut Homer out.

During a field trip to the Springfield Desert State Park, Lisa finds a flower that can cause animals to become docile. When she synthesizes a drug out of this, the drug gets picked up by a major pharmaceuticals company and distributed to the population. However, it has a major negative side effect.

Meanwhile, Chong recruits Seymour Skinner to form "Teach and Chong". Meanwhile, Marge helps the Crazy Cat Lady change her hoarder ways, but in the process turns into a hoarder herself.

When Homer tickles Bart until he wets his pants, Marge makes Homer take part in a fathering enrichment class. Over the course of the lessons, Homer becomes scared of Bart. Marge tries to track down the now-missing Dr. Zander to get him to put things right again.

One of these is for "The Great Milk Can Escape," which Lisa accidentally reveals to Cregg Demon, a rival magician. But when other rival magicians attempt to take out Cregg, Lisa comes to his rescue.

Meanwhile, Milhouse professes his love for Lisa, only to have his heart broken. Milhouse then catches the eye of popular fifth-grader Taffy, causing Lisa to become jealous.

Lisa tries to return a key to Springfield Elementary, but she stumbles upon an abandoned classroom in the basement. Meanwhile, Marge is on a continuous search for her noisy anniversary present.

Superintendent Chalmers takes over Bart's education after another one of Bart's pranks causes trouble for the school. Chalmers' teaching sparks a fascination in Theodore Roosevelt for Bart. Encouraged by this, Chalmers takes Bart and his band of "Rough Riders" on an overnight excursion to Springfield Forest. A minor accident causes Chalmers to get fired, and Bart and his group try to get him reinstated.

In a flash-forward to thirty years in the future, Bart and Lisa have children of their own and decide to spend Christmas as one big family at their parents' house. The two of them ask their parents for parenting advice. Meanwhile, a heavily pregnant Maggie tries to get home for the holidays.

In the opening, Homer gets trapped in Candy Eating Peak and has to bite his own arm off to escape. In "The Diving Bell and Butterball", Homer becomes paralyzed after being bitten by a spider, but finds he can communicate by farting. In "Dial D for Diddily", Ned becomes a vigilante when Homer, pretending to be God, gets him to murder his enemies. Finally, in "In the Na'vi", Bart and Milhouse go on a mission at Rigel 7 and take on the form of Rigellians, where Bart finds an unlikely love in Kamala.

Bart's science fair project, a mechanical baby seal, outshines Lisa's brainy asteroid model and quickly becomes a popular pet among the retirement home patrons. However, a programming error causes them to have some dangerous issues. Meanwhile, Homer's new and eager assistant, Roz Davis, steals Homer's job, forcing him to team up with Ned Flanders to reveal her true colors.

After Lisa finds out that author T. R. Francis is a fake, she decides to write her own book, and teams up with several other Springfielders and Neil Gaiman to write the book. However, when they get the book back from the publishers, they find that the whole concept has been changed. The team then work together to steal their book back.
