"Bartman Begins" is the second level in The Simpsons Game.

Description[edit]

This level also introduces Bart's Bartman power and (only in the Xbox 360/PS3 version) the ability to turn into "Robo-Bart", his powerup. Homer in this level cannot turn into the Homer Ball as he did for a brief time in the previous level and can only move around, activate switches, jump, and attack. This level also features Raphael and Sideshow Mel as security guards enemies and Jimbo, Dolph, and Kearney as mini-boss enemies.

Synopsis[edit]

"After Bart finds out that he has video game abilities, he and Homer enter a cave below the Springfield Natural History Museum and end up stopping Jimbo, Dolph and Kearney from robbing the place."

Plot[edit]

Bart stumbling upon the manual

Bart buys a game called Grand Theft Scratchy: Blood Island, but Marge takes it away and hides it in Homer's underwear drawer with his swimsuit magazines and BB gun. Frustrated, Bart goes to an alley where an instruction book for The Simpsons Game falls from the sky. Bart realizes his whole family is part of the game and has special powers. He discovers that his power is turning into Bartman. Meanwhile, Homer finds his swimsuit magazine and BB gun, and the two decide to explore the sewer, which leads them to the Natural History Museum. There, they find Jimbo, Dolph, and Kearney robbing the museum and decide to stop them. After defeating some security guards, Bart climbs a tree and uses his slingshot to drop dinosaur bones on Dolph. They then reach the dioramas where Homer activates targets, and Bart uses his slingshot to scare Kearney throughout the display. After knocking out Kearney, they reach the astronomy exhibit. Bart climbs platforms to a U.F.O. where Jimbo is, and together, Bart and Homer knock him out. Principal Skinner arrives and reveals he hired the bullies to steal museum exhibits because the school couldn't get real science equipment. Chief Wiggum then arrests Skinner after arriving late due to bad directions from Mapquest.

Gameplay[edit]

Xbox 360/PS3 and Wii/PS2/PSP version[edit]

The Planetarium in the Wii/PS2/PSP version

In the cave, run forward, jump over the gap, and use Bart's slingshot to break the wooden crate blocking the path. Head straight into the temple, which is hidden in the Springfield sewers. Switch to Homer and place him on the first pressure pad to the left. This activates platforms for Bart to reach a wooden platform. Then, switch back to Homer and put him on the second pressure pad, activating more platforms. Bart can now glide down to the center pad and activate the bridge. Once, on the other side of the temple, use Bart to climb the vines on the right, then kick down the drum/trampoline so Homer can join him on the ledge. Solve the puzzle by using pressure pads to unlock the secret entrance and enter the museum.

Fight the guards, climb the ladder next to the T-rex skeleton, and have Homer stand on the skull. Bart can use the tail to reach the other end of the room, glide into the next room, and activate the steam updraft. Hop onto the pterodactyls, use the zipline, and hit the red target with Bart's slingshot to drop the bones on Dolph.

To access the next room, use Bart's RoboBart helmet to shoot through the glass door and destroy the lock, giving access to the exhibit (Xbox 360/PS3 version only). Put on the RoboBart helmet and shoot the targets in the diorama (Use Homer to step on the buttons to activate the targets in the Wii/PS2/PSP version). In the second display, shoot targets in the order 2, 1, and 3 to lower the bridge for Kearney. In the final display, shoot the specific targets (settler with a shotgun, donkey, cavalry guy, and the cannon guy) to force Kearney into the next room where you can defeat him.

Inside the Planetarium, climb the brown moon rock on the left, switch to Homer to activate the updraft, and have Bart glide across. Reach the space shuttle, jump onto the ring around the earth globe, and climb up to Jimbo's area. In the Wii/PS2/PSP version getting to Jimbo is slightly different, where after getting past the planet platforms, you reach a red platform near the space shuttle and press a button to lower a ladder so that Homer can reach the satellite and hold it down for Bart. Once Jimbo drops down from the UFO, shoot him and avoid his attacks, then keep firing until he's defeated.

DS Version[edit]

Bart ontop of a Yoshi skeleton

In the underground cave, Run ahead and cross the chasm using the zipline. Climb the ladder and pull the lever to switch to Homer. As Homer, jump onto the new platform, reach the red button, and jump on it to lower the yellow gate. Climb up to proceed.

Out of the cave, fight the guards as Homer, then jump on the red button to switch to Bart. Use the platforms that appear to climb onto the statue on the left. Hop across the higher platforms and float across the chasm with Bartcape. Pull the red lever. Switch to Homer, run across, and jump onto the red button. Take Bart to the new platforms and float to the platform below the red target. Defeat the guard and shoot the target with Bart's slingshot to open the door and move on.

In the Prehistoric Exhibit, run along the brown brontosaurus's back, jump onto the pterodactyl, and float over the green skeleton to reach a red lever. Pull it to switch to Homer. Run along the dinosaur, jump onto the green skeleton's red tongue, and use it to reach the tar pit. Jump across the bone platform and hit the red button. As Bart, stand on the vent, pull the lever on the right, and open the door for Homer. To defeat Dolph, shoot him and then shoot the red targets in the dinosaur exhibit below. Dodge Dolph's shots in the dark and repeat the process a few times to defeat him.

In the History of Man Exhibit, Shoot the red targets to help Homer advance through the dioramas. Defeat guards and shoot security cameras along the way. Move past the first three dioramas to reach the "Giant Ants Are Our Overlords" display. Stand under the middle target and aim at the targets as Kearney appears. He won't attack, so take your time and defeat him.

In the Planetarium, Climb to the top of the area while defeating guards. Use the asteroid platform to jump from Mars to Jupiter, then keep climbing. When Jimbo starts shooting green laser balls, avoid them and stand on the right side of the flying saucer. Shoot Jimbo's spaceship until he gives up.

  4. Defeat Kearney then enter inside the final diorama display to find the bottlecap. (Xbox 360/PS3 version only)
  5. At the end of the diorama display hallway, inside the reception desk. (Wii/PS2/PSP version only)
  6. Climb the satellite pole in the Planetarium to reach the bottlecap on top of the space shuttle.
  7. Use the same satellite pole to jump onto the planet rings and reach the ring around the earth globe. Homer's collectible is next to the satellite. (Xbox 360/PS3 version only)

Finding all Duff Caps rewards the Dino Duff Trophy.

Krusty Koupons

The Krusty Begins Trophy
  1. Once you cross the chasm in the temple, look to the left to find a wall of vines leading into a hole in the wall. Climb the vines to reach the Koupon.
