Description[edit]
The playable characters of this level are Homer and Bart. It is one of the timed levels and the only one without any enemies.
Synopsis[edit]
- "The Simpsons are transported to the game engine, where Will Wright, a video game creator, wants to destroy older version of the Simpsons."
Plot[edit]
The Simpsons face off against the alien mothership, which shoots lasers at them. Bart notices that after every four laser bursts, a hatch opens, which is the weak spot. Kang and Kodos overhear this and decide to destroy the whole town, knowing the Simpsons can't stop them. With no more upgrades in their game manual, Bart and Lisa head into their house to find cheats online. Bart finds a website for The Simpsons Game, but before he can explain what they need to do, Homer interrupts to play Solitaire. Homer puts his beer on the disc tray, and when it closes, the beer spills, causing a short-circuit that transports the Simpsons into the game engine.
There, Will Wright, creator of The Sims, appears and explains that his new game, Sims Sandwich, failed and drove him mad. Now, he lives inside the game engine and destroys old, forgotten video games, including Escape from Krusty Island, where 8-bit versions of the Simpsons are trapped. Homer and Bart must rescue them before they get incinerated. After jumping across platforms and solving puzzles, they reach a lever to turn off the incinerator. As they enter an elevator, Will Wright blames some "jerks at EA" for everything, claiming they were jealous of him.
Homer and Bart exit an elevator into the Game Hub. Marge and Lisa join them, and the family meets their 8-bit counterparts. The 8-bit Simpsons warn the modern family that their game will also become obsolete someday. Lisa agrees, explaining that no video game is safe from the constantly changing industry. The 8-bit family suggests that the only way to stop the destruction is to confront "the creator" in his mansion. To get through the gates, they must enter the new Simpsons games being developed, find four key cards, and combine them to open the gate.
Gameplay[edit]
Xbox 360/PS3 & Wii/PS2/PSP version[edit]
This timed mission means you need to keep moving! Start by moving Bart to the edge near Wright, grapple across the gap, and pull the lever to extend a bridge. Switch to Homerball and break through the door on the walkway. Move down to the next level, turn left, and have Bart shoot the target to open a new path. Climb the spiral walkway, use Bartman’s grapple to cross the next gap, and have Homerball dash through the crates. Continue across the platform to reach trampolines; use them to bounce up to another walkway. At the end, grapple or dash to the door with two large, red pressure pads, activate them and pull the lever to shut down the incinerator.
DS Version[edit]
Race ahead of the moving cartridge to save time. Hit each target and lever before the cartridge reaches it. Start as Bart, pulling the first lever to switch to Homer. Move Homer right, grab burgers, and dash over the pit to land on a platform with a button. Next, switch to Bart, moving carefully past flame bursts by jumping on pipes to reach another lever and pull it to continue. Switch back to Homer, head right, and jump on the second pipe. Use a helium tank to float over more flame bursts, landing on a red button to unlock a yellow gate for Bart. In the final stretch, take Bart up the vents and over the pink breakable platforms to reach the last lever under the furnace. Pull it to stop the machine and save the 8-Bit Simpsons.
