Bob Newhart had a recurring guest role on The Big Bang Theory as Professor Proton, which he has reprised for Young Sheldon. He voiced himself in the Season 7 episode "Bart the Fink".
Eric Kaplan, regular writer of The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, wrote the Season 24 episode "The Saga of Carl".
Brian Posehn played recurring character Bert the geologist on The Big Bang Theory. He guest-starred in the Season 28 episode "A Father's Watch" as Dumlee and also co-wrote the comic story Gnaws.
