"Treehouse of Horror XXXII" is the third episode of season 33 of The Simpsons and the seven-hundred and ninth episode overall. It originally aired on October 10, 2021. "Bong Joon-ho's "Parasite", Bambi's revenge and much, much more are featured in the annual Halloween special."


Plot[edit]

Barti[edit]

In a parody of the film Bambi, Barti and his mother are chased by a hunter, Mr. Burns. After running in a cave, Barti finds out his mother never made it. Going back through the forest he meets Mr. Burns, asking where his mother is, but she appears, reassuring him that his father saved her, stabbing Mr. Burns with Lenny and they start eating Mr. Burns.

Bong Joon Ho's This Side of Parasite[edit]

In a parody of the 2019 South Korean film Parasite, the Simpsons live in a squallid basement apartment, full of water, and with pizza boxes everywhere, but their life changes as Bart get hired at Rainer Wolfcastle's manor as a tutor.

The idea for Bong Joon Ho's This Side of Parasite segment came to the episode writer, John Frink, after he has seen Parasite movie. Then Frink had asked, if the show staff can do a parody on it in Halloween special, and Al Jean approved the idea.[2]

Frink had been pitching to do a horror segment starring the treehouse (Nightmare on Elm Tree) for years.[3] Matt Groening suggested using James Cagney as the voice for Bart's treehouse.[4]

The Dead Ringer segment was suggested by Carolyn Omine.[5]
