Soylent Green is a thriller film released in 1973 starring Charlton Heston. It takes place in a dystopian future where the Earth is heavily overpopulated and half of the world's food supply is produced by Soylent Industries, whose most nutritious product is Soylent Green. The film's protagonist, Detective Frank Thorn, investigates a murder connected to Soylent Industries, and eventually learns that Soylent Green is made from people. The plot was loosely based on the 1966 novel Make Room, Make Room by Harry Harrison.

8	174	"The Old Man and the Lisa"	When Lisa discovers Mr. Burns is using recycling to create Slurry from animals, she attempts to warn the townspeople in a scene based on the finale to Soylent Green when Frank Thorn tries to warn everyone that Soylent Green is made of people. This same sequence also references Invasion of the Body Snatchers.^[1]
11	243	"Bart to the Future"	In the future, Homer offers Bart Soylent Green, but Ralph comments that it's made of people.
13	270	"Treehouse of Horror XII"	In the "Wiz Kids" segment, during the Springwart's School of Magicry magic recital, Principal Skinner jokingly introduces Lisa as "A second-grade sorceress so powerful, she made tonight's refreshments out of dead people!", which elicits groans of disgust from the audience.
17	372	"Million-Dollar Abie"	The euthanasia clinic is based on the one from Soylent Green, including the viewing of a film with music playing in the background.
