Location Information
Use: Tire dumping

The Springfield Tire Yard, colloquially known as the Springfield Tire Fire, is a lot where tires are disposed of and then burned. The fire that the yard holds has become more iconic than the yard itself, making it somewhat of a landmark in the town, as demonstrated by its appearance in the opening sequence of the TV show Eye On Springfield.

History

The tire fire was apparently started by Krusty the Clown when threw his cigarette into a huge pile of tires from his clown cars. After the fire started, he incorrectly presumed that it would burn itself out in a few hours.[1]

When Springfield was preparing to host the Olympic Games, the Springfield Tire Yard's fire was extinguished by the fire department. After Bart insults the Olympic Committee they storm out of the town. While leaving the Russian representative flicks a cigarette out of his limousine window re-igniting the tire fire.[2]

Homer, Bart and Lisa brought all of the Funzos in Springfield to the Tire Fire to dispose of them. The remains of a Funzo then rose from the fire and went to attack the family, only for Gary Coleman to defeat it.[3]

After Marge caused a lot of Springfieldians to burst their tires by reversing into cars over tire spikes and them all rolling back onto tire spikes, all of the tires were brought to the Tire Yard. Due to the huge amount of new rubber added to the Tire Fire, more smoke rose from it and melted the top of Mount Springfield, revealing a dead postman in the mountain.[4]
