The first content update

On September 21, 2012, the first content update was released for the game. The new level 21 was introduced - bringing a new building and character, as well as bringing several new 'decorations'. Also, the character Kearney was introduced as a Premium character (a character that is bought in-game with donuts). Level 12 also came for new players with a new building - the Springfield Library - which a player could build after the character Bart Simpson is notified that he may have to repeat the fourth grade by Seymour Skinner and that he must study. The library's first visitors are Bart and Martin (a new character unlocked when the library is built), who study for a 'meaningless' test. Finally, the Springfield Observatory was made available as a premium item. The update was 40.3 MB.

The second content update

Incomplete.png This section is incomplete.

Please improve the article, or discuss the issue on the talk page.

The second content update was released on September 28, 2012. The Duff Racer was the only thing added to the game; it was added to celebrate the Season 24 premiere "Moonshine River" on September 30, 2012.

When players opened the game they received a notice reading: "Here's a Duff Racer from the Springfield Grand Prix to celebrate the Season 24 premiere on Sunday!"

The third content update (version 3.0.0.) was available to download on October 3, 2012. This was a huge update, introducing new Halloween characters and buildings. Players are now able to squish zombies after building the Springfield Cemetery, TP and egg friends' houses, and unlock new Halloween quests. Also, new objects have been released: a Pylon, a Gas Pump, a Patio Table, a See-Saw and a Stop Sign - all of which are unlocked on the new level introduced in the update - Level 22. Edna Krabappel's apartment block and Edna are available to unlock in the new level 22, after completing the quest "Staff Needs".

The player needs to be on Level 5 to unlock the Halloween features. Once the Mayan calendar has been completed, the Mayan God asks the player a question - if the player answers correctly they get Mayan Homer and 10 donuts, but if they answer incorrectly they don't get 10 donuts. A clue to the answer is in the season 24 episode "Treehouse of Horror XXIII".

If you complete the Treehouse of Horror XXIII character collection, which consists of the Mayan God, the Talking Krusty Doll, Kang, Burns Monster and the Raven, you get Cash.png1,000 and XP.png20.

The Halloween features were available until early November, between November 5, 2012 and November 8, 2012 - and until that date, Mystery Boxes were Wicked Treat Boxes.

Despite the Treehouse of Horror Update Guide in the game listing the date of October 31, 2012 for when the Treehouse of Horror event will last until, the update's content was still in the game between November 5, 2012 and November 8, 2012.

As of the fifth content update, characters are no longer able to go on Halloween quests with the exception of Halloween characters, such as Kang, and costumes, such as Witch Marge, though they now earn cash instead of treats.

On February 26/27, 2013, a user on the TSTO Players forum posted a list (with links to images) of characters and buildings sent to appear in then-future content updates. The user also found a black-and-white 'unlock' image of Mayan Marge, a character that possibly would have introduced with this content update.

Gameplay

Once the player has got the Halloween update:

Homer: Halloween is coming! Let's crank up the "spooky" factor around here by building the Springfield Cemetery!
Lisa: There's a lot more important things to build first.
Homer: I'll be frank. We're all living inside buildings I, Homer Simpson, built in less than a day. Pretty soon we're gonna need somewhere to put dead bodies.
Lisa: Excellent point.

The player then receives the quest "Dial 'Z' for Zombies Pt. 1", which is to "Build Springfield Cemetery". The Springfield Cemetery is free, and takes only six seconds to build. The reward for the quest is Tapped Out Treat.png1, XP.png5. After this:

Lisa: Zombies are pouring out of the cemetery!
Homer: Think! What kills zombies -- silver bullets? Garlic? Me relaxing in my hammock?
Lisa: The best method is squishing them with an enormous sky-finger.
Homer: Where, oh where, will we ever find one of those????

The player then receives the quest "'Dial 'Z' for Zombies Pt. 2", which is to "Squish Zombies" - ten. During zombie squishing, a Mysterious Artifact is found. Once the player presses "Place":

Lisa: That's weird. That zombie was holding some sort of ancient STONE ARTIFACT. I wonder why?
Homer: Why do zombies do anything? For money, that's why.
Lisa: Uh, I'm pretty sure all zombies care about is eating brains.
Homer: You need to hang out with a higher class of zombie.
Zombie: Watch October 7 Treehouse of Horror episode --

The player then places the artifact. After doing so, a quest pops up, "The Secret of the Mayans", which is to "Find and Place Mysterious Artifacts" - because the player has already placed one, it is listed as "1/2". Continuing to squish zombies, the player finds another Mysterious Artifact. Placing it, the player has completed the quest given, and receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

Homer: Another ARTIFACT! And look -- it fits together with the first one!
Lisa: Dad, I think these are pieces of the Mayan Long Count Calendar! But why?
Homer: Stay tuned for the answers, everybody!
Zombie: Complete calendar. Watch October 7 Treehouse of Horror episode.

The player then receives the second part of the quest, "The Secret of the Mayans Pt. 2", which is to "Find and Place Mysterious Artifacts". The quest requires the player to find and place 3 artifacts, and the player has already found and placed 2 of them at this point. The player squishes the rest of the zombies and gets the reward for "'Dial 'Z' for Zombies Pt. 2", Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

Cletus: Oh, sad day. Cletus Junior, my favorite huntin' dog, has passed.
Lisa: That's terrible! How did he die!
Cletus: We was deer huntin'. Poor dog had one too many beers, tripped over his own paw, and his gun went off.

Then, the player receives the quest "'Dial 'Z' for Zombies Pt. 3", which is to "Have Treats" (10) and to "Build Pet Cemetery". The pet cemetery costs Tapped Out Treat.png10 and takes 4 hours to build. Another horde of zombies comes out of the cemetery, and squishing them, the player gets at least one more artifact - completing "The Secret of the Mayans Pt. 2" which gives the reward of Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

Lisa: The Mayan calendar is almost complete! Dad, I think the zombies are trying to tell us something...
Zombie: Complete calendar. Watch October 7 Treehouse of Horror episode. Answer trivia question about it. Answer correctly and receive a--
Homer: Take that, zombie! (BLOWS ZOMBIE AWAY WITH SHOTGUN)
Lisa: Dad! That zombie had something to say!
Homer: And I had a shotgun. Which means I win.

The player receives "The Secret of the Mayans Pt. 3", which is to "Find and Place Mysterious Artifacts" - five, even though that the player has already found 3 of the artifacts at this point. The reward for this quest is Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

Once building the Springfield Cemetery:

Homer: I found a stray dog! Can we keep him?
Lisa: I don't know, Dad. He's kinda... decomposing.
Homer: Yeah, but he's smart. If you listen, you can hear him saying "brains.. want brains..."
Lisa: Terrific. Now the pet cemetery is churning out zombie pets.

The player receives "'Dial 'Z' for Zombies Pt. 4", which is to "Squish Zombie Pets" - ten of them. Once squashing the ten zombie pets, the player receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5 as a reward.

After completing "The Secret of the Mayans Pt. 3", the player receives "The Secret of the Mayans Pt. 4", in which the player must "Find and place the last Artifacts to complete the Mayan Calendar". Once the calendar is complete and the final piece of the calendar has been found and placed:

Lisa: Okay, that's the last piece of the calendar!

The Mayan God then fades into existence on the Mayan Calendar. The player receives XP.png25 for unlocking Mayan God, which completes "The Secret of the Mayans Pt. 4", for which the player receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5 as a reward.

Mayan God: Hear my SACRED TRIVIA QUESTION!!!!

A notice pops up saying "Get it right and win a Mayan Homer outfit... complete with all new quests!"

Mayan God: Only those who have seen this year's Treehouse of Horror episode, 75 days before our highly scientific calendar prophecies the END OF THE WORLD, will answer correctly!

Another notice appears: "For those of you using the normal calendar, that's October 7th".

The Mayan God will walk around your town with not an exclamation mark above his head, but a question mark. Once the player taps on the question mark, a square appears, which has the Mayan God's illustration on it - and the trivia question: "In this years Treehouse of Horror episode, what do the aliens consider to be mankind's highest achievement?". The answer is one of these three:

  • John Carter on Blu-ray
  • The Zune
  • DVRs That Let You Skip Commercials

Below, there is a notice: "Answer to unlock an exclusive Mayan Homer outfit. Get it on the first try and win 10 donuts as well!" If the player gets the correct answer, "The Zune", they will receive ten donuts (if they got the answer on the first try) and they will unlock a Mayan Homer outfit. A "Outfits" notice appears: "Congratulations! You have your first Outfit! Tap on the Character to change their Outfit. Each Outfit has its own set of jobs." Once tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:

Mayan Homer: Where am I? And WHEN am I? Anyone know what baktun it is?
Apu: Thirteenth.
Mayan Homer: Wow. Traveling through time really builds up an appetite.

The player receives the quest "Blast from the Past Pt. 1", which is to "Make Mayan Homer Go on a Maize Binge". The task lasts 60 minutes and on its own the player would receive Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png17. The player receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5 as the reward for the quest.

Mayan God: Grrr... gggrrrr!!!
Mayan Homer: Hiya, mighty Gukumatz!
Mayan God: GRRRR GRGR!
Mayan Homer: Hey, if you want a human sacrifice, you got one. No problem!

The player then receives "Blast from the Past Pt. 2", which is to "Make Mayan Homer Perform Human Sacrifice in the Brown House". The task takes 12 hours and on its own would give the player the reward of Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png100. The reward for the quest is Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

Mayan God: Grrgr Grr!
Mayan Homer: I'm sorry! Disco Stu was the best sacrifice I could get on short notice.
Mayan God: GGGGRRRRR! RRR!
Mayan Homer: There's just no making you gods happy.

The player then receives the final part of the "Blast from the Past" trilogy, "Blast from the Past Pt. 3", which is to "Make Mayan Homer Reenact the Mayan Collapse". The task takes 4 hours and on its own the reward would be Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png45. Once Mayan Homer's task is completed:

Lisa: Are you done now? Can we get on with it?
Mayan Homer: Sure, what's next?

The reward for the quest is Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png45.

After "'Dial 'Z' for Zombies Pt. 4", Professor Frink then appears in your town:

Frink: Good glavin! I have developed a theory to explain the existence of multiple Springfields!
Homer: I too have developed a theory: you yell boring things as if they're exciting.
Frink: Quickly! I need access to a high-energy super collider.
Lisa: What about the LHC at CERN? It just found the Higgs Boson.
Frink: Not powerful enough. The boson I'm looking for is much harder to find. You see, due to a printing error, the word "boson" appears upside down on its shell. Very rare. Highly collectible.

Professor Frink disappears and the player is given the quest "The Black Hole Pt. 1", which is to "Build Super Collider". It costs Tapped Out Treat.png100 and takes 8 hours to build. The player receives XP.png50 once building the Super Collider, fully named the Springfield Subatomic Supercollider, and then receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5 for completing "The Black Hole Pt. 1". Once the player has tapped on Lisa's exclamation bubble after building the Supercollider, Professor Frink appears again:

Frink: The collider is ready! With the plasmas, and the crisp new lab coats, and the slamming things together for learning...
Lisa: I read somewhere that supercolliders can spawn miniature black holes.
Frink: Later, Lisa! It's time to sciencify!

Frink disappears, and the player receives "The Black Hole Pt. 2" quest, which is to "Make Lisa Turn on the Super Collider" - a 45 second task, which in reward, the player is given Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png1. This task can only be done once in the game. The reward for the quest is Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5. Professor Frink appears again.

Lisa: A black hole! A tear in the very fabric of space-time that could swallow the earth!
Frink: Get that thing out of here before it gobbles the building!
Lisa: Will do! Wait a second, where are you going?
Frink: Any Springfield but this one! With the naked singularities, and the oh-so-short life expectancy...

Frink disappears, and the player receives "The Black Hole Pt. 3" quest, which is to "Place Black Hole". The black hole is in the player's inventory, and once the player places it in their Springfield, the player receives the reward of Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5. An exclamation mark pops above Homer's head.

Homer: What about the candy? Surely the candy will survive the black hole?
Lisa: I... I'm afraid not.
Homer: Then we don't have much time.
Milhouse: KID POWER!
Lisa: I know there's zombies out there but how often do kids get the opportunity to amass a horde of candy?

The player receives the quest "The Black Hole Pt. 4", which is to "Send any Kids Trick-or-Treating". The reward for a character going trick-or-treating is Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png125, and the only characters available to go trick-or-treating are Bart, Lisa, Milhouse, Martin and Nelson. Once the player has tapped the "thumb logo" above one of the characters that the player had sent trick-or-treating's heads:

Kang: Foolish Earthlings! They do not grasp the TRUE danger of the black hole! Science teaches us that black holes are a gateway, connecting this world to the Christian hell! Just as their Albert Einstein predicted, if you read him correctly. Behold! The legions of hell pour forth.

The player then completes "The Black Hole Pt. 4", the reward for which is Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5. Completing the quest unlocks Devil Flanders, for which the player is given XP.png25.

Cletus: I reckon it's the hillbilly's job to point out the alien craft menacing our skies?
Frink: I have positively identified this flying object as a UFO. We must construct the Frink Ray Gun immediately!
Kang: I KNEW we should have paid for the ray-gun-proof undercoating. Our only hope is that the humans will not have enough donuts to build this ultimate weapon.

(Please go to the Ray Gun section for the rest of the gameplay involving Kang.)

Once tapping on Ned's exclamation mark:

Devil Flanders: Hey-diddly-ho there, Springfield!
Homer: Stupid Devil Flanders! What do you want?
Devil Flanders: You might say I'm on Soul Patrol! Wheelin' and Dealin'! Doin' the Hell Sell!
Homer: Does EVERY version of you have to rhyme?

The player then receives the "Flanders the Devil Pt. 1" quest, which is to "Make Devil Flanders Sign up New "Clients"". The task is 12 hours long and on its own, the reward would be Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png100. The reward for the quest is Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

Lisa: What are we gonna do with all these eggs and toilet paper?
Devil Flanders: You haven't been using 'em to mess up other Springfields?

Then, the player receives "Flanders the Devil Pt. 2", which is to "Throw Eggs at houses in other Springfields" and "Throw Toilet Paper at trees in other Springfields" - ten times each. The reward for the quest is Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

Homer: Did you see the look on that other me's stupid face when I saw me hucking eggs at me? Priceless!
Devil Flanders: What truly awful people you are. And what a delightfully wretched town. [SNIFF!]
Homer: Are you crying, Stupid Flanders, Prince of Darkness?
Devil Flanders: I think I'm gonna like it here. Time to set up shop!

The player receives "Flanders the Devil Pt. 3", which is to "Have Treats" (100) and to "Build House of Evil". The House of Evil costs Tapped Out Treat.png100 and takes 12 hours to build. Once built, the player receives the reward for the quest, Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5, and then:

Homer: Hmm, "House of Evil". Nice to see there's still a place for brick-and-mortar evil shops in the Internet Age.

The player receives "Flanders the Devil Pt. 4", which is to "Make Homer Shop at House of Evil". Homer is the only character who can shop there. The task takes 60 minutes and on its own would give the reward of Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png17. The reward for the quest is Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5. Completing the quest has unlocked the Talking Krusty Doll, which rewards the player with XP.png25.

Homer: Why's a Talking Krusty Doll for sale at an emporium of evil?
Talking Krusty Doll: Kill Homer! Kill Homer Simpson!
Homer: And there's your answer.

"Flanders the Devil Pt. 5", the final quest in the "Flanders the Devil" pentalogy, requires the player to "Make Homer Run from Talking Krusty Doll". The task takes 24 hours to complete, and on its own the player would receive Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png150 as a reward. The task is just Homer running around your town with his hands in the air while the Talking Krusty Doll wanders around town, not chasing him at all. Once Homer is done (and out of breath) you receive Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

Devil Flanders: I've got it! I know just the thing to make this town a real Hell-on-Earth!
Homer: An NFL stadium funded by taxpayer money, while the public school system crumbles?
Devil Flanders: No! And stop eavesdropping!
Homer: But eavesdropping is evil! I thought you'd approve.
Devil Flanders: It's not evil! It's just rude!

The player then receives "Bad Dream House Pt. 1", which is to "Have Treats" (150) and to "Build Bad Dream House". The Bad Dream House costs Tapped Out Treat.png150 and takes 24 hours to build. The reward for the quest is Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5. After this quest, two "Treat" icons appear in the taskbook sidebar; they are two quests: "Heck House" - "Buy Heck House" and "Burns Monster" - "Buy Burns Monster". The Heck House and the Burns Monster both cost Tapped Out Treat.png300. After completing "Heck House" a "Façades" notice appears: "Congratulations! You have your first building façade. Tap on the building to change its façade." For unlocking the Burns Monster after completing "Burns Monster", the player gets XP.png25. The rewards for these quests are both Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5. After completing "Bad Dream House Pt. 1":

Devil Flanders: Spend a night in this house and it's yours! Test your courage! Maybe that angry Scotsman is up to the challenge!

The player then receives "Bad Dream House Pt. 2", which requires the player to "Reach Level 10" and "Build Willie's Shack". If these have been done, the quest is to "Make Willie Sleep in the Bad Dream House". All of the "Sleep in the Bad Dream House" task take 12 hours and if on their own, the player is rewarded with Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png100 for each "Sleep in the Bad Dream House" task set. After sending Willie to Sleep in the Bad Dream House:

Willie: A Scotsman always takes the bait! Historically, it's been a real problem for us.
Devil Flanders: Your first victim approaches, House-y. You know what to do.
Bad Dream House: Next time, can you find someone who doesn't reek of haggis and two-stroke engines?

The player gets Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5 as the quest's reward.

Willie: Must... kill... Principal Skinner...
Devil Flanders: Nice brainwashing, House-y! You're the best in the business.
Bad Dream House: You're too kind, O King of Perdition.
Devil Flanders: Okay, who's next? How about the fat comic man?

"Bad Dream House Pt. 3" requires the player to "Reach Level 13" and "Build Android's Dungeon". If these have been done, the quest is to "Make Comic Book Guy Sleep in the Bad Dream House".

Comic Book Guy: If the "spend a night-in-a-haunted-house" plotline was good enough for every "Scooby-Doo" ever, it's good enough for me!

The quest's reward is Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

Comic Book Guy: Must... kill... Apu.... Also Lovejoy and Krusty and Milhouse and Mr. Burns...
Devil Flanders: Woah! You gave that brain the scrub-a-dub of the century!
Bad Dream House: Yeah, I was on a roll. That guy has some INTENSE anger issues.
Devil Flanders: Who's next!
Homer: The Simpsons will give it a shot!

The player receives "Bad Dream House Pt. 4", which is to "Make Homer Sleep in the Bad Dream House", "Make Lisa Sleep in the Bad Dream House" and "Make Bart Sleep in the Bad Dream House". At the same time, another "Bad Dream House" icon appears in the taskbook sidebar. The quest is "Marge's Bad Dream", which requires the player to "Reach Level 15" and "Build Moe's Tavern". If these have been done, the quest is to "Make Marge Sleep in the Bad Dream House". Both of these quests' rewards are Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

Bart: Must... kill... Lisa...
Homer: Kill... Bart...
Lisa: Kill... Mom...
Marge: So this is what it comes to? This is how the Simpsons finally meet their end?
Bad Dream House: Stick to the script, lady.
Marge: Oh, right. Sorry. Must... kill... Homer...
Chief Wiggum: Now hold on a second. You there -- I suppose you have a PERMIT to operate a house of brainwashing?
Devil Flanders: Uh... no. Do I need one?
Chief Wiggum: Read your Satanic Bible, pal.

The player receives "Bad Dream House Pt. 5", which is to "Make Devil Flanders Do Emergency Satanic Bible Study". The task takes 8 hours and on its own, the reward would be Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png70. Once the task is complete:

Devil Flanders: Officer, I apologize about the permit, but my evil plans are THIS CLOSE to fruition...
Chief Wiggum: Sorry. Rules are rules.
Devil Flanders: I am a small businessman, sir. Your town should be WELCOMING people like me!
Chief Wiggum: Thank you for your cooperation.
Devil Flanders: Oh, forget this! I'm going back to hell! Where, if nothing else, I can count on a business-friendly environment!

The player then receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5 as a reward, ending the "Bad Dream House" pentalogy and the Halloween quests.

Ray Gun
Tapped Out Ray Gun.png

The Ray Gun is a raygun that was able to be purchased for Donut Tapped Out.png100; the original price was Donut Tapped Out.png150. When Kang flies over your Springfield in his spaceship (after completing "The Black Hole Pt. 4") and Cletus points out the 'alien craft menacing our skies', Professor Frink mentions that they must construct the Frink Ray Gun immediately. Once the player has purchased and placed the Ray Gun:

Kang: Those meddling humans have built the Ray Gun. We must try to destroy it before they use it!

Kang tries to destroy the Ray Gun by firing at it using his spaceship. The player presses the Ray Gun so it shoots into the air. After one shot:

Kang: Stop it! Our craft can only take two more hits like that!

Kang continues to fire at the Ray Gun, while the player continues to fire at his spaceship. Soon, the spaceship starts to wobble before a final hit makes the spaceship crash into the ray gun, destroying it and the ship.

Kang: Ouch. Ouch. OUCH! I think I twisted a tentacle.
Frink: Bullseye! I've put a new Ray Gun in storage.

The player then receives XP.png25 for unlocking Kang.

Kang: Peaceful greetings, puny human!
Lisa: A real life alien! Welcome to Earth, friend!
Kang: Let us live in friendship, and let us not deploy the beacon that summons the Rigellian invasion fleet!
Lisa: Uh... okay.
Kang: That's one thing I wish you not to worry about. No one is deploying any beacons!

The player then receives the quest "We come in Pieces! Pt. 1", which is to "Make Kang Deploy the Beacon", a 12-hour task, which rewards you with Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png150 when the task is set on its own. Once the quest is completed the player receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

Lisa: Mr. Alien--
Kang: Please, call me Kang the Enslaver of Worlds! How can I help, friend human?
Lisa: There's a zombie outbreak in Springfield. Do you have any advanced technology that could help.
Kang: Of course! Let me just get it over here.

Then the player receives "We come in Pieces! Pt. 2", which is to "Make Kang Activate the Beacon". The task takes 10 minutes, which rewards you with Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png7 when the task is set on its own. Once the quest is completed the player receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

Lisa: Uh, still waiting for help with the zombies.
Kang: Sprinkle these crystals on your fellow humans. It will, uh, make them zombie-proof!
Lisa: This appears to be common table salt.
Kang: Don't be idiotic! What would be the point of salting humans?

The player receives "We come in Pieces! Pt. 3", which is to "Make Kang Properly Season Humans". The task takes 6 hours and rewards you with Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png90 when it is set on its own. Once the quest is completed the player receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

Kang: Bwa-ha-ha! Ha-ha-ha-haaaaa!
Lisa: What's so funny?
Kang: The Rigellian fleet will be here in moments! You are about to become dinner!
Lisa: Seriously? You'd fly all the way across the galaxy just to eat us?
Kang: Of course! In all the universe, there is no food as well-marbled as the American human!

The player receives "We come in Pieces! Pt. 4", which is to "Make Kang 8-Hour Evil Laugh". The task takes (well, it's in the title) 8 hours and rewards you with Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png105 when it is set on its own. Once the quest is completed the player receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

Lisa: Excuse me? Your beacon is bleeping.
Kang: Huh. It appears my Message of Summoning didn't go through to the invasion fleet.
Homer: Yeah, reception kinda stinks here in New Springfield. I'm working on it.
Kang: Please, sit patiently while I resend the message that signals your doom...
Homer: No way! Come on, fellow puny humans -- get him!

The player receives "We come in Pieces! Pt. 5", which is to "Make Kang Run from Puny Humans". The 24-hour task rewards the player with Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png225 if the task is set on its own. Once the quest is completed the player receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5, ending the "We come in Pieces!" pentalogy.

Cauldron
Tapped Out Cauldron.png

The Cauldron is a cauldron that was able to be purchased for Donut Tapped Out.png90. It can be unlocked after the player has completed "Is There An Al Coholic Pt. 1". Once the player has placed the Cauldron, the player unlocks Marge The Witch - a new outfit for Marge.

Once unlocking the outfit:

Marge The Witch: I love my new outfit! It's just too bad I can't be a REAL witch.
Devil Flanders: You'd use your powers to beat Helen Lovejoy at the annual Church Bake-Off, am I right?
Marge The Witch: You should know that the mind-reading thing is very creepy.
Devil Flanders: I get that a lot. Anyhoo, I'll make you a dealio -- victory in the bake-off, in exchange for... your soul.
Marge The Witch: Hmm.. it WOULD be neat to defeat that horrible woman and her famous lemon bars.
Homer: Mmmm... lemons in bar form...
Marge The Witch: Homer, stop drooling. Okay, Evil Ned, let's do it! Sign me up!

The player then receives "Easy-bake Coven Pt. 1", which is to "Make Devil Flanders Sign up New 'Clients'" and to "Make Marge the Witch Sign away her Soul". Both tasks are 12 hours long. Respectively, the rewards for these tasks if they were set on their own would be Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png100 and Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png150. After completing both tasks, the player receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

After tapping on Marge The Witch's exclamation mark:

Marge The Witch: Let's see, the first ingredient in the recipe is... candy, three bags. I'm gonna need some help.

The player then receives "Easy-bake Coven Pt. 2", which is to "Send Marge the Witch Trick-or-Treating", "Send Lisa Trick-or-Treating" and to "Send Bart Trick-or-Treating". All three tasks take 16 hours and each task rewards the player with Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png125, XP.png200 in Marge The Witch's case, when completed on their own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

After tapping on Marge The Witch's exclamation mark:

Marge The Witch: The next ingredient on the list is Springfield Silvertongue.
Cletus: You in luck, green lady. My last crop just withered due to mysterious and convenient circumstances.
Marge The Witch: If you plant some Silvertongue, I can make it grow faster for you?
Cletus: Can you do that with any crop at all?
Marge The Witch: That's right! Why do you ask?
Cletus: Just want to make sure Mobile-Device-Owning Gigantic Finger Person is paying attention. Here endeth the lesson.

The player receives "Easy-bake Coven Pt. 3", which is to "Plant Silvertongue" and to "Make Marge the Witch Speed up a Crop". Silvertongue costs Cash.png55, takes 8 hours to grow on Cletus's Farm, and rewards the player with Cash.png275 and XP.png75 when harvested. Marge The Witch's task takes 4 hours and the task rewards the player with Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png70 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

After tapping on Marge The Witch's exclamation mark:

Marge The Witch: Let's see... I've got the Candy, the Silvertongue, and the Eye of Newt. Now all I need is Dew-Kissed Web of Day-Old Spider.
Homer: I got one! I KNEW I was carrying around this D.K.W.D.O.S. for a reason.
Marge The Witch: Uh, terrific. Thanks.

Then the player receives "Easy-bake Coven Pt. 4", which is to "Make Marge the Witch Stir the Pot". The task takes 12 hours and the task rewards the player with Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png150 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5.

After tapping on Marge The Witch's exclamation mark:

Marge The Witch: Victory! The Bake Sale championship is mine!
Devil Flanders: And your immortal soul is mine!
Marge The Witch: Is there a nice moment you don't love to spoil?
Devil Flanders: Nope. It's truly my worst quality.

Then the player receives "Easy-bake Coven Pt. 5", which is to "Make Marge the Witch do a Victory Lap". The task takes 8 hours and the task rewards the player with Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png105 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Tapped Out Treat.png1 and XP.png5, completing the "Easy-bake Coven" quest-line.

Character costumes, outfits and zombies

This is a list of Halloween costume, outfits and zombies the characters of The Simpsons: Tapped Out can change to.

Trick-or-treating costumes

Witch Marge also goes Trick-or-Treating, but her costume doesn't change.

Outfits

Zombies

Homer turning into a zombie.

In the game, once zombies have come out of the cemeteries, they walk around your Springfield. When they meet a character, they turn that character into a zombie. Once tapping on the zombie character, they return back to normal...until another zombie comes along and turns the character into a zombie again. However, Halloween characters, such as Kang, do not get turned into zombies.

On November 5, 2012, the fourth content update was released, bringing in a new level, two new buildings, and two new characters - one premium, one not. The update was 52.7MB. However, this update did not remove the Halloween features. In fact, it decreased the price of the Ray Gun from Donut Tapped Out.png150 to Donut Tapped Out.png100.

Some users on the EA forums reported that they had gotten the Thanksgiving update, which involves buying balloons, with this update.

On the EA forums on November 6, 2012, user "Teasdale x" posted information about five balloons appearing in the game after the update. The user placed the balloons in their game, but then the game crashed and the ability to purchase the balloons disappeared from his game. User CanadaX21 had also bought the balloons in his/her game; in his/her case he/she bought the balloons (for less than $500), and once the user exited the app and returned to it, the Halloween features had been reset.

On November 5, 2012, Facebook account for the yet-to-be published Tapped Out fansite, Simpsons Tapped Out Now, posted info on the upcoming "balloons" update. An description on what was in the game's files was posted, including a new outfit for Homer that has yet to appear - "Ninja Homer". An image posted on the forums on November 7, 2012 confirmed the price of the balloons.

This fifth content update, released in the UK on November 8, 2012, revealed that the Halloween buildings now give out cash and XP instead of treats/zombies.

Gameplay

This gameplay is incomplete: There is dialogue missing
Homer: Ah Thanksgiving -- a time for families to come together to overeat and argue.
Lisa: Don't forget about the parade!
Homer: I will, honey, I will!

The player then receives "Thanksgiving Parade Pt. 1", which is to "Place the Scratchy Balloon". The Scratchy Balloon costs Cash.png1,000. Once the balloon has been placed, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10 as a reward.

Homer: What kind of parade has only one balloon?

The player then receives "Thanksgiving Parade Pt. 2", which is to "Place the Blinky Balloon". The Blinky Balloon costs Cash.png16,500. Once the balloon has been placed, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10 as a reward.

The player then receives "Thanksgiving Parade Pt. 3", which is to "Place the Santa's Little Helper Balloon". The Santa's Little Helper Balloon costs Cash.png30,000. Once the balloon has been placed, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10 as a reward.

Balloons

All of the balloons require Level 5 and can be bought multiple times. A bug was reported by many users of the Tapped Out forums that they could buy the Itchy and Snowball II balloons for cash and not donuts.

The sixth content update

The sixth content update was an in-app update released on November 13, 2012 which added Fat Tony as a character in the "Wise Guys" collection. Fat Tony's quests were part of an exclusive storyline leading up to the premiere of "Penny-Wiseguys" on November 18, 2012.

Gameplay

After unlocking Fat Tony:

Fat Tony: I should be able to lay low here for a while. But first I must acquire the necessary low-laying supplies.

The player then receives "Wanted: Stereotypical Crime Boss Pt. 1", which is to "Make Fat Tony Buy Hole Up Supplies". The task is a one-time 45 second task and rewards the player with Cash.png3 and XP.png1 as well as the quest's reward Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

Fat Tony: Pasta, sauce, a checkered napkin and a sleeveless t-shirt... just the essentials of life. Now I've got to find a place in which I can keep out of sight.

The player then receives "Wanted: Stereotypical Crime Boss Pt. 2", which is to "Send Fat Tony to Hole Up in the Brown House" - another one-time task, this time 3 minutes long. It rewards the player with Cash.png6 and XP.png2 as well as the quest's reward, Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After sending Fat Tony to hole up in the Brown House:

Homer: All this walking around Springfield is killing me! I need a nice disappear-inside-a-building job.

The player then receives "Wanted: Stereotypical Crime Boss Pt. 3", which is to "Make Homer Break into the Brown House and Watch TV" - a 3-minute task like the last one with the same reward of Cash.png6 and XP.png2. After sending Homer on his task:

Fat Tony: Hey, what are you doing here? You a cop? You'll never take me alive!
Homer: Fat Tony! I didn't know this was your house. Please don't kill me! I'm just a lazy guy who likes TV!
Fat Tony: Oh no -- this is not my abode. I'm just taking an unscheduled vacation of indeterminate length. Please pass the remote.

The reward for the quest is Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

Fat Tony: Homer, it would be to our mutual benefit if you did not tell anyone that I am here. Don't breathe a word if you want to keep breathing in general.
Homer: No need to get your gun out again... But if you're hiding out, you shouldn't stay here. Half the town drops by here on a regular basis!
Fat Tony: Then you've got to hide me, Homer! Please? Pretty please with a gun to your head on top?

The player then receives "Wanted: Stereotypical Crime Boss Pt. 4", which is to "Make Fat Tony Hole Up in the Simpson's Basement". When the task is set on its own, the player receives Cash.png200 and XP.png50. The reward for the quest is Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

Lisa: Ugh, dad, why was there a Mafia Crime Boss hiding in our basement?
Homer: You know, I didn't think to ask! Why are you hiding, Fat Tony? Did you off someone, commit tax fraud, drink a large soda in New York City?
Fat Tony: I did all of those things. But that's not why I'm hiding and I can't speak out it, it's too awful.
Lisa: Dad... He's kind of scaring me. Why don't you take him to get something to eat? Even if it's meat, that's fine with me.

The player then receives "Wanted: Stereotypical Crime Boss Pt. 5", which requires the player to "Reach Level 7 and Build the Krusty Burger", and to "Make Homer Eat at Krusty Burger" and "Make Fat Tony Eat at Krusty Burger". Both tasks are 30 minutes long, and they both reward Cash.png40 and XP.png10 when set on heir own. The reward for the quest is Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

Fat Tony: You know Homer, my boys are here every week collecting protection money, and I've never tried their burgers before.
Homer: What do you think?
Fat Tony: I think the clown who runs this place is the real criminal. We should get back, before somebody sees me.

The player then receives "Wanted: Stereotypical Crime Boss Pt. 6", which is to "Make Fat Tony Hole Up in the Simpson's Basement" - the same as Part 4. The task, when set on its own, gives the reward of Cash.png200 and XP.png50. After Fat Tony finishes his task:

Chief Wiggum: Ahh, there you are Fat Tony!
Fat Tony: Uh oh. Is it bribe time already?
Chief Wiggum: No, that's not 'til next week. Today, I have an envelope for you!
Lisa: Wait, aren't you going to arrest him?
Chief Wiggum: What? No. That's just papers informing him he has to report for jury duty on Sunday, November 18th at 8/7 central.
Homer: Why are you talking like that? What courthouse is open on Sunday nights? And who's going to run the Mafia while he's serving jury duty?
[A notice then appears, saying: "Find out in the November 18th episode of The Simpsons!"]
Homer: Oh, I get it -- it's a promo! We still get to keep Fat Tony in our town after the show airs though.
Fat Tony: I'm not going anywhere.
Homer: Woo-hoo!

The player then completes the quest, receiving the reward of Cash.png100 and XP.png10, which also ends the the "Wanted: Stereotypical Crime Boss" hexalogy.

The seventh content update

Tapped Out Cool Homer artwork.png

Reports of a seventh content update began on November 29, 2012 when a user of the Tapped Out forums reported that a Christmas-themed Tapped Out logo had appeared on the App Store on the Apple devices. Other users then denied the reports, but then another user posted an image featuring the Christmas logo.

The seventh content update was released on November 30, 2012, and it wasn't a Christmas-themed update - it was an update with a tie-in to "The Day the Earth Stood Cool". The update is 54.5MB. This update removed the ability to buy the Thanksgiving balloons.

Gameplay

Once installing the update, the player receives a notice: "In this Sunday's episode, Springfield gets cool... as will you with the new Cool Brown House!" The player then receives "The Day The Earth Stood Cool Pt. 1", which is to "Build the Cool Brown House". The Cool Brown House is free and requires Level 5. It gives out Cash.png90 and XP.png10 every 4 hours. The Cool Brown House takes 4 hours to build and the player receives XP.png10 when it has finished building. Once the house has finished building, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10 as a reward for completing the quest. The task for the Cool Brown House is "Raising Pretentious Kids". After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:

Homer: Hey, someone remodeled one of the brown houses - and it looks cool! It looks like something from the cover of a magazine I've never heard of. I'm gonna break in and solve this mystery.
Lisa: There's no mystery. You just want to break in to a nice house.
Homer: Yeah...

The player then receives "The Day The Earth Stood Cool Pt. 2", which is to "Make Homer Break into the Cool Brown House". The task takes 3 minutes and set on its own, the player receives Cash.png6 and XP.png2 in reward. It is a one-time only task. After sending Homer on his task and when he reaches the house:

Homer: This place is crazy! Furniture from Grampa times! Movie posters from non-Bruce Willis movies! And no TV!
Lisa: I know -- it's so cool!
Homer: But there's no TV, Lisa. NO TV!!!
Lisa: Don't you see, Dad? These people are striving for a more eclectic and artistic existence.
Homer: Hmm... Maybe I should become a cool parent.
Lisa: But that would take a lifetime of appreciation of music, art, culture...
Homer: Or I could dress cool and no one would know the difference.

Homer then disappears inside the house. In reward for the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10. The player then unlocks a new character - Cool Homer - and gets XP.png25 for unlocking him. Cool Homer is an 'outfit' for Homer. After tapping "Cool Homer"'s exclamation mark:

Cool Homer: Check it out. Now I'm 'Cool' bald, not 'sad old' bald. And I've got a scarf, a wallet chain, and a goatee! Why do all my head hairs just grow in twos?
Lisa: Now you're ready to experience foreign films, art walks, Mumford and Sons...
Cool Homer: Or, I could just walk around, acting like I'm better than other people.

The player then receives "The Day The Earth Stood Cool Pt. 3", which is to "Make Cool Homer Walk around Acting Superior". The task takes 4 hours and set on its own, the player receives Cash.png175 and XP.png45 in reward. The player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10 as the reward for the quest. After tapping on Cool Homer's exclamation mark:

Cool Homer: Man, all that judging and humble bragging has left me parched.
Apu: Perhaps I can interest you in an inexpensive and flavorless beer?
Cool Homer: Could I act like the beer is somehow superior because it's crappy and cheap?
Apu: As long as you pay for it.
Cool Homer: Yoink!

The player then receives "The Day The Earth Stood Cool Pt. 4", which is to "Make Cool Homer Enjoy a Duff Blue Ribbon". The task takes 8 hours, and set on its own, the player receives Cash.png275 and XP.png70 in reward. The player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10 as the reward for the quest. This ends the "The Day The Earth Stood Cool" tetralogy

The eighth content update

Tapped Out Santa Homer artwork.png
Tapped Out Christmas Guide.png

On December 3, 2012, The Simpsons: Tapped Out's official Facebook page posted a message: "Let it snow! Springfield's in for some holiday magic with a big new update... coming soon!" - which implied that the update would be released sometime in the first week of December. It was announced on Tapped Out's Facebook page on December 4 that the holiday update would be released on December 5 (the same day when Tapped Out would no longer be able to be played on 1st and 2nd generation iPod touches and iPhones), and in that post was also an image of Santa Homer - a new outfit for Homer that was introduced in the update. With the update also comes a new icon for the game, and a new opening menu.

The features were going to be available until January 3, 2013; it was announced through Tapped Out's Facebook page on December 19, 2012 that the time the Christmas content would be available had been extended. Until January 2, 2013, it was unknown what date it has been extended to; on that date there was an update, changing the end date of the Christmas content from January 3, 2013 to January 10, 2013.

File:Tapped Out Santa's Sack.png
A Santa's Sack, which costs Donut Tapped Out.png5.

Players can buy a Santa's Sack (costing Donut Tapped Out.png5), which includes 10-20 Santa Coins - a new currency in the update. As long as the holiday event lasts, players will be given Santa's Sacks instead of Mystery Boxes in their Daily Bonus.

Many users on the Tapped Out forums reported that they had seen Kodos shooting at the ray gun in her spaceship while she flies across a friend's Springfield. Many thought it was a bug, but it is likely a clue to what could happen next - Kodos being introduced as a character.

A promotional image for the update.

Also, many users on the Tapped Out forums reported (one even showing an image) that Gil Gunderson would appear and give the player a 25% off offer on donuts. This was true, but EA had removed Gil from the game, presumably because of the problems surrounding Tapped Out players being locked out of their games. On December 19, 2012, users reported that Gil had appeared in their Springfield after an update. This update also changed Barney's "Sober Up" task from an 8 hour task to a 4 hour task. There was also an update on December 23, 2012, adding another of Gil's offers to the game.

In the App Store description of the game, a "Kiddie Ride" is said to be one of the decorations added with the update. However, the only sighting of a kiddie ride in the game is a one outside the in-game Try-N-Save building.

Reports started on the Tapped Out forums on December 29, 2012 that players could get "Mystery Stockings" for Tapped Out Santa Coin.png50, and that they would have either donuts or a Reindeer in. There have been several more reports since then, and in late January 2, 2013 or early January 3, 2013 (depending on the time zone), the end of the update was officially extended to January 10, 2013, and the Mystery Stockings were introduced officially.

Holiday Spot was used to advertise the update.

Gameplay

Once installing the update:

Lisa: Look at Springfield! Either this is fallout from the nuclear accident or we're going to have a White Christmas!
Homer: These flakes don't taste plutoniumy, so a White Christmas it is!
Lisa: We should get our Holiday Tree out of storage.
Homer: Great idea, Lisa! Now where exactly did I store it again?
Lisa: The same place you store everything. That box way over to the left in the build menu... I mean the attic.

The player then receives "Christmas", which is to "Place Holiday Tree". The Holiday Tree costs Donut Tapped Out.png75, but there is a free one in your inventory. Once the Holiday Tree has been placed:

Lisa: Wow! The holiday tree will drop ten Santa Coins every day!
Homer: What are Santa Coins? Is that a real thing?
Lisa: You collect and consume them, just like candy during Halloween. Speaking of which, whatever happened to all our candy?
Homer: I ate it all on November 8th.

The player then receives the reward for the quest, Tapped Out Santa Coin.png30. After tapping Apu's exclamation mark:

Apu: This is the LEAST wonderful time of year! Why must my store be so full of customers?!

The player then receives the quest "Christmas Hours", which is to "Make Apu Do a Kwik-E-Mart 168 Hour Task". The task takes 168 hours (7 days), and set on its own, the task would reward the player with Cash.png3,000 and XP.png750. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Tapped Out Santa Coin.png10 as a reward.

Gil's offers

Santa's Village, Holiday Tree and Santa Homer offer
Tapped Out Santa's Village, Holiday Tree and Santa Homer offer.png

Once tapping on Gil's "Holiday Tree" speech bubble:

Gil: Ho-ho-ho, just wait until you see what I've got for you today.
Lisa: Is it a pony?
Homer: Is it a large screen TV? 'Cause I could stop breaking in to the Brown House if I had one of those.

The Santa's Village, Holiday Tree and Santa Homer offer appears, with Gil in the picture saying "Celebrate consumerism with this holiday inspired theme park and tree!". This promotion was supposed to have lasted between December 13, 2012 and December 16, 2012, but Gil was removed from the game presumably because of players being locked out.

Gil was introduced in an update on December 19, 2012, and the offer lasted between December 19, 2012-December 22, 2012. The offer is that the player can get Santa's Village, the Holiday Tree and Santa Homer for 200 Donuts instead of its 275 Donut Value. Once the offer is up, Gil will disappear from your Springfield.

According to the game files:

If the player accepts the offer:

Gil: Honey, I made a sale! Tell the kids I'll be home for Christmas! What do you mean I'm not welcome? You got remarried already?!

If the player declines the offer:

Gil: Hi, honey? I need you to tell the kids Christmas is cancelled again this year.
25% More Donuts offer
Tapped Out 25% More Donuts offer.png

Once tapping on Gil's "Donut" speech bubble:

Gil: Ho-ho-ho boy. Have I got a Christmas miracle for you! To celebrate the season, all donut packages come with 25% more donuts! Which means a dozen is now 15. 50 is the new 40! And that tray of 132 donuts is now... well, Ol Gil's not that good at math. If he was, he wouldn't have to be standing out here in the cold hawking donuts. He's also not that good at grammar, always calling himself he instead of I...
Homer: Fine, I'll look at the store. Just shut up already!
Gil: Bless you, fat sir.

The offer appears, showing Gil in a Santa Suit picking up a green donut from a plate of white, red and green donuts. On the table is a picture of the Simpsons, but a cut-out of Gil has covered most of them. He is saying "Celebrate the season with even more donuts!".

The "25% More Donuts" offer lasted between December 23, 2012-December 27/28, 2012. The offer was added to the game in an update (released on December 23, 2012). This promotion was supposed to have lasted between December 19, 2012 and January 2, 2013, but Gil was removed from the game presumably because of players being locked out. Once the offer is up, Gil will disappear from your Springfield.

This offer is called "DayOldDonuts" in the game files.

If the player declines the offer:

Gil: Ah, jeez! Guess the kids will have to go the another Christmas without presents... or electricity.

In the store, the donut pictures have a new Christmas design.

  • Dozen Donuts now comes with 3 more donuts
  • Stack of 60 Donuts now comes with 15 more donuts
  • Tray of 132 Donuts now comes with 33 more donuts
  • Truckload of 300 Donuts now comes with 75 more donuts
  • Store Full of 900 Donuts now comes with 225 more donuts
  • Boatload of 2400 Donuts now comes with 600 more donuts

There were several reports on the Tapped Out forums of a bug which does not allow players to access their Springfield after purchasing donuts with the offer.

Gil: Please buy something this time. I'm going to lose my kids!
Gil: Please buy something, I can't sell anymore blood. Uwooh...
Gil: A second chance? Oh thank you, thank you, thank you.

Gil: Alright Gil. You can maybe do it this time.
Gil: You have no idea how much I need this.
Gil: I'm just trying to earn enough money to buy my real eyes back.

Before this, there were several reports on the Tapped Out forums of Mystery Stockings from players who had jailbroken devices and were able to 'time-travel' to when the Mystery Stockings were available. The stockings contain 1-3 donuts or a Reindeer. The stockings were introduced to allow the players to convert their excess Santa Coins to permanent items, which was opposed to the experience after the Halloween content update, when the surplus of treats just vanished.

Once the player goes into their Springfield:

Homer: I can't wait till the holidays are over and I can eat all our leftover Santa coins...just like I did with the Halloween candy.
Lisa: But not all those coins are made of chocolate. Some of them are made of coin.
Homer: Doesn't matter. I'm still going to eat them.
Lisa: How about if instead we use them to buy Mystery Stockings, which contain all sorts of goodies.
Homer: And then I can eat those? Lisa, you're a genius!

A notice then appears reading "Use surplus Santa Coins to buy Mystery Stockings before the Holiday Event ends on January 10th."

The ninth content update

The ninth content update was released on January 11, 2013 after the Christmas features (apart from the snow) were removed in-game. When Tapped Out was released on Android, this update came with it (apart from the US release).

Mr. Plow gameplay

After buying and unlocking Mr. Plow and tapping on his exclamation mark:

Mr. Plow: Woohoo! I can call myself Mr. Plow again. After being a father, a husband, and a Mayan, finally a title that confers some respect.
Comic Book Guy: Ahem. I don't see how that moniker applies when you have no plow. That would be like me calling myself Aquaman when I have no Spanish water.
Mr. Plow: I don't need a plow. I have radioactive plutonium!

The player receives "Mr. Plow Pt. 1", which is to "Make Mr. Plow Attempt to Melt Snow". The task takes 24 hours and rewards the player with Cash.png1,000 and XP.png225 when it is set on its own.

Once the task is selected:

Comic Book Guy: Great, I can't wait to find out what radioactive creature bites me. I'm pulling for mongoose.

Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Mr. Plow's exclamation mark:

Mr. Plow: I restarted this business hours ago, and yet I still don't have a global empire. Maybe that commercial I made will heat up business. Or since I'm in the snow game, 'cool it down'?
Moe: Heh heh. Good one, Mr. Plow... you idiot.
Mr. Plow: I should check it out. Make sure the camera didn't add any weight.

The player receives "Mr. Plow Pt. 2", which is to "Make Mr. Plow Break into the Brown House to Watch his Commercial". The task takes 60 minutes and rewards the player with Cash.png105 and XP.png26 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Mr. Plow's exclamation mark:

Ned: Morning, Homer. I was sifting the ol' 'stache-arino, when I couldn't help notice you're trying to break into my garage.
Mr. Plow: Stupid Flanders. I needed to 'borrow' something from you, but I didn't want to wake you up.
Ned: How neighborly of you. Well, I can unlock it for you now.
Mr. Plow: Don't think you can. Already broke the lock.

The player receives "Mr. Plow Pt. 3", which is to "Make Mr. Plow Clear Snow". The task takes 8 hours and rewards the player with Cash.png420 and XP.png105 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Mr. Plow's exclamation mark;

Apu: Someone pushed a mound of snow up the doors of my store, blocking both I and my customers from entering! Only a person with a plow could have done this.
Mr. Plow: Did I hear someone in need of the services of Mr. Plow?
Apu: Ugh. Fine, Mr. Plow, I will pay you to clean this up, while not making logical assumptions about who caused it.
Mr. Plow: Woohoo! There's no business like snow business.

The player receives "Mr. Plow Pt. 4", which is to "Make Mr. Plow Clear Snow" again. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Mr. Plow's exclamation mark:

Mayor Quimby: For, eh, all the hard work you have put in for our fair city, I would like to give you, Mr. Plow, the key to the city.
Mr. Plow: Hey, didn't you already give me the key and then take it back? I can Google it to make sure my memory is right.
Mayor Quimby: Yes. But to make amends, I, er, ordered you a special key. This one is made of chocolate.
Mr. Plow: Mmmmm, honorary chocolate.

The player then receives "Mr. Plow Pt. 5", which is to "Make Mr. Plow Eat the Key to the City". The task takes 4 hours and rewards the player with Cash.png260 and XP.png70 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Mr. Plow's exclamation mark:

Reverend Lovejoy: Praise be upon you, Mr. Plow. Now that you cleared a path to the church door, we can actually have a service.
Mr. Plow: Well, God can't help you every time, Reverend Lovejoy.
Reverend Lovejoy: And since you're here, why don't you stay for my sermon. It's like cocoa for the soul-co. Ugh -- Flanders is getting into my head.
Mr. Plow: Sorry, Rev. Can't give up these preemo work hours. When the snows on the ground it's ABP: Always Be Plowing.
Reverend Lovejoy: You know, I know a place where no one would ever pay you to plow. Where the Lake of Fire melts that all away. And where it's never jacket weather.
Mr. Plow: Oh, I get what you're doing. And it's working.

The player receives "Mr. Plow Pt. 6", which is to "Reach Level 14 and Build the First Church of Springfield" and to "Make Mr. Plow Attend Church". The task is a one-time task; it takes 12 hours and rewards the player with Cash.png420 and XP.png100 when it is set on its own.

Once the task is selected:

Reverend Lovejoy: Welcome, everyone, to today's sermon. We begin with a ready of Corinthians 3 --
Mr. Plow: Don't hog the pulpit, Reverend. I have an important announcement to make.
Reverend Lovejoy: Homer, that's not how church works --
Mr. Plow: Tired of God's punishment that He calls snow. Salvation's in store with Mr. Plow! Just call 1-800-
Reverend Lovejoy: Step down, Homer. Step down! In every flock, there's always a sheep that baas a little too loudly.

Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Mr. Plow's exclamation mark:

Marge: Homer! Everyone's talking about what you did at church. How could you use the pulpit for crass, commercial self-promotion? No one has every done that before!
Mr. Plow: Baby, baby, I got four new customers after that service. How many customers did Jesus every get after he talked in church?
Marge: Well, I'm pretty sure it was more than four. Although I think they were more followers than customers.
Mr. Plow: Pfft, followers don't pay you.
Marge: You're only getting out of this one, Mister, because you're such a beefcake in that jacket.
Mr. Plow: Mmmm, beefcake.

The player receives "Mr. Plow Pt. 7", which is to "Make Mr. Plow Wear Jacket to Bed". The task takes 12 hours and rewards the player with Cash.png600 and XP.png150 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10, ending the "Mr. Plow" heptalogy.

Tapped Out A Sign and Doom offer.png

After tapping on Gil's "Hank Scorpio" bubble:

Gil: Heya Springfield! Are you tried of "the man" telling you what to do?
Homer: Which man?
Gil: The man in Washington!
Homer: Which Washington?
Gil: Well, now you can stand up to our government by scrawling your city name across a mountain and protecting it with a death ray!
Homer: Cause there's Washington state and the District of Columbia... which is kind of weird. Isn't Columbia another country?
Gil: Yeah, that is weird.

Then the player receives the "A Sign and Doom" offer pop-up, which lasted between January 11, 2013-January 13/14, 2013. The offer includes the Volcano Lair, "evil super genius" Hank Scorpio and the Springfield Sign. The pop-up shows Gil saying "Nothing says "I'm in charge" like a giant super laser!", while in the background is a Springfield Sign and a Volcano Lair in a Springfield with a White House and a Blue House. The offer is that the player receives the Volcano Lair and the Springfield Sign for Donut Tapped Out.png250 with a Donut Tapped Out.png370 value. Once the offer is up, Gil will disappear from your Springfield.

This promotion was supposed to have lasted between January 3, 2013 and January 6, 2013. The offer is called "LairSign" in the game files.

If the player declines the offer:

Gil: Come on! Don't you want to protect your town from those Columbians?

Tapped Out Valentine's Day Update Guide.png

The tenth content update was released on January 30, 2013. This is a Valentine's-themed update, the fourth themed content update so far. The update removed the snow, and the snowmen introduced in the previous update had melted. Also, the normal icon had been restored and the game got a new Valentine's-themed opening menu.

Players can buy a Mystery Love Box for Donut Tapped Out.png5, which contain either hearts or themed decorations. Hearts are new currency in the update, and you can buy three buildings with them and 8 decorations.

Two expensive buildings came with the update, the "Escalator To Nowhere" and the "Popsicle Stick Skyscraper", each costing in great excess of the prices of the other buildings.

File:Tapped Out Scratch-R.png
A Scratch-R before being 'scratched'.

The update installed the ability to win money at the Kwik-E-Mart by purchasing a Scratch-R. You can get a Scratch-R every 6 hours. It also installed the ability to send Valentine's cards to friends' towns.

File:Tapped Out The Store New Items.png
The new items in The Store.

For players that had reached the end of Level 25, a special notice appeared saying that players could get bonus levels and when they get the XP to complete them, they can get up to three donuts by selecting one of the 'presents'. Get one or two donuts and the player gets the chance to get three by paying Cash.png50,000.

A few players posted on the Tapped Out forums that they got Level 26 with the update and the content that came with the update.

The update also installed the ability to buy Cash.png50,000 and Cash.png100,000 with Donut Tapped Out.png325 and Donut Tapped Out.png600 respectively in "The Store".

The update also removed the Mapple Store from the game; it was introduced during the Christmas Update then became a premium building after the event ended.

Reports began after the update was first released of a bug nicknamed the "Harp of Death". This bug has been encountered by many Tapped Out players. The bug freezes up the game and crashes it, before continuously playing a 'harp sound' through the loading menu when the game is opened again. There have been multiple reports of this on the official Tapped Out forums and the EA Help forums, with EA responding to the complaints at the beginning of February saying that there should be a patch released soon, and on February 22, 2013 with a tweet from @AskEASupport: "Attention Springfield citizens! The #TSTO team are aware/investigating a resolution for ‘harpofdeath’ issue. Thanks for your patience." @OriginInsider also responded to the complaints, saying on February 21, 2013, "This is being investigated and the Simpsons Tapped Out team is working as quickly as possible to resolve it." Also, EA has sent replies to troubled players' emails on how to fix the bug, despite many finding a way to fix the bug on their own: leaving Tapped Out open for around 15-20 minutes without auto-lock on. Reports of the bug have continued after the release of the Level 26 update, with many saying that the completion of a quest or a building has prompted the game to crash and the bug to start.

The event ended on February 28, two weeks after Valentine's Day.

Gameplay

This gameplay focuses on a player who has reached the end of Level 25

Two notices appear once the player logs onto the game. The first notice reads "Congratulations! Much to our embarrassment you've completed the current max level in the game." The second reads "But don't you worry! Until we bring you new levels you can complete extra BONUS LEVELS and win up to 3 donuts per level!"

Then:

Apu: Mr. Simpson. I believe I can help reconstruct Springfield. Kwik-E-Mart is now offering Scratch-Rs! For the low, low, price of 250 money you have a chance to win 10,000 money!
Lisa: Isn't that gambling?
Homer: Nonsense Lisa, you can't lose in a social game.
Lisa: This Valentine's Day I'm going to lead by example and give out cards made from recycled paper. That way every Valentine I give out will be a Valentine I give out will be a Valentine to the Earth as well! And the smug sense of satisfaction I'll feel will be a Valentine to myself!

Then the "BONUS LEVEL UP!" notice appears. A player must tap on one of the three 'presents' to receive one, two or three donuts. If a player gets one or two donuts, the player can get the option to pay Cash.png50,000 for the chance to receive three, or they can settle for what they received.

Then, the player receives "Valentine's Day Pt. 1", which is to "Send Valentine's Cards in Other Springfields" - three cards. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Heart.png1 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Lisa's exclamation mark:

Lisa: Just one Valentine left... Milhouse's. I hope he doesn't read too much into it.

The player receives "Valentine's Day Pt. 2", which is to "Reach Level 8 and Build the Van Houten House" and to "Make Lisa Deliver a Valentine to the Van Houten House". The task is a one-time task and takes 10 minutes and rewards the player with Cash.png17 and XP.png5. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Heart.png1 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Milhouse's exclamation mark:

Milhouse: Hi Lisa!
Lisa: Oh... hi Milhouse...
Milhouse: I got that Valentine you made me. It was on crummy recycled paper, but the message was still clear... my love is requited!
Lisa: It's just a card Milhouse.
Milhouse: It sure is! So do you want to do something as a couple? We could fly my kite together?
Lisa: Um, er...I would love to, but I have homework to do. Maybe later?
Milhouse: I'll be counting the seconds. One alligator, two alligator...

The player receives "Valentine's Day Pt. 3", which is to "Make Lisa Do Next Week's Homework" and "Make Milhouse Fly a Kite".

Upon completing the task:

Lisa: I hope Milhouse got the picture.
Milhouse: Lisa may not have been there with me, but I'm still going to count that as a date!

Then the player receives Heart.png1 and XP.png10 for completing the quest.

After tapping on Milhouse's exclamation mark:

Milhouse: Hi, Mr. Simpson. I'm here to profess my undying love for Lisa.
Homer: I know, and so does she. That's why she ran out the back door when she saw you coming. She's long gone by now.
Milhouse: Woe is me! How will I ever conquer Lisa's heart?
Homer: Well, they say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. And men and women have exactly the same anatomy...
Milhouse: Gotcha! I'll warm up my easy-bake oven!
Homer: Better yet, what about going out for ice cream?
Milhouse: That's a great idea. Thanks, Dad-to-be!

The player receives "Valentine's Day Pt. 4", which is to "Build Phineas Q. Butterfat's". The building costs Heart.png10 and takes 24 hours to build. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Heart.png1 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:

Homer: 5600 flavors of ice cream? I'm in love!
Milhouse: Do you think Lisa will come here with me, seeing as I built it for her?
Homer: For her? I had you build this for me.

The player then receives "Valentine's Day Pt. 5", which is to "Make Homer Eat at Phineas Q. Butterfat's". This one-time task takes 8 hours and rewards the player with Cash.png275 and XP.png70 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Heart.png1 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Milhouse's exclamation mark:

Milhouse: I guess I'll never get Lisa to be my Valentine.
Homer: Valentine? Oh, crap! Is it whatever-uary whatever-teenth already?! need to get Marge a gift... or write her a love song. No that's too much work. I'll stick with the gift.

The player then receives "Valentine's Day Pt. 6", which is to "Make Homer Shop At Kwik E Mart". Upon completing the quest, the player receives Heart.png1 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:

Homer: Help me, Apu -- I need a Valentine's gift for Marge!
Apu: Is she a milk connoisseur? I have several well-aged vintages.
Homer: I was thinking something a little more romantic.
Apu: Then you've come to the wrong place. Might I suggest flowers?
Homer: Great idea. I think I saw some in the decorations menu.

The player then receives "Valentine's Day Pt. 7", which is to "Plant Rose Bush". The Rose Bush costs Heart.png10. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Heart.png1 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:

Homer: Now to cut me some of those flowers, give them to Marge, and trick her into loving me for another year.
Chief Wiggum: Not so fast, Fancy Gardener! Drop the hedge clippers, and reach for the sky!
Homer: But I planted these flowers.
Chief Wiggum: On city ground! And now that they're there, cutting them is illegal. And don't think about just putting them in your inventory box -- that won't work either.
Homer: Then where am I supposed to get flowers?
Chief Wiggum: That's your problem, not mine. But if you figure out a place, let me know. Valentine's is coming up and I don't want to have to write Sarah a love song.

The player then receives "Valentine's Day Pt. 8", which is to "Build Howard's Flowers". The building costs Heart.png25 and takes 24 hours to build. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Heart.png1 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:

Homer: This place is expensive! I can barely afford twelve roses, let alone a dozen. I better clock in some overtime at the plant.

The player then receives "Valentine's Day Pt. 9", which is to "Reach Level 11 and Build the Control Building" and "Send Homer to do a Plant Shift". Upon completing the quest, the player receives Heart.png1 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:

Homer: Woo-hoo! Now I've got enough money to buy something that comes out of the ground plentifully and for free!

The player then receives "Valentine's Day Pt. 10", which is to "Make Homer Shop at Howard's Flowers". This one-time task takes 12 hours and rewards the player with Cash.png420 and XP.png100 when completed on its own.

After finishing the task:

Homer: V-Day Victory, here I come!

The player then receives Heart.png1 and XP.png10 for completing the quest.

After tapping on Milhouse's exclamation mark:

Milhouse: Hey, Lisa, whatcha doing?
Lisa: My dad's done so much building and shopping recently, I thought planting some flowers might offset his carbon footprint.
Milhouse: I don't know what that means... but I think that too.

The player then receives "Valentine's Day Pt. 11", which is to "Make Lisa Plant Flowers". Upon completing the quest, the player receives Heart.png1 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Lisa's exclamation mark:

Lisa: I'm impressed, Milhouse. You planted all those flowers without a single allergy attack.
Milhouse: While you're feeling all impressed, do you want to get some ice cream? I'll even spring for a waffle cone.
Lisa: Ice cream sounds good. But just so we're clear -- we're just friends, okay?
Milhouse: Just friends. ...for now.

The player then receives "Valentine's Day Pt. 12", which is to "Make Lisa Eat at Phineas Q. Butterfat's" and "Make Milhouse Eat at Phineas Q. Butterfat's". Upon completing the quest, the player receives Heart.png1 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:

Homer: Happy Valentine's Day, Marge!
Marge: Flowers?! And they're not even from the inventory box!
Homer: That's right, baby! And tonight I'm taking you anywhere you want to go. The Gilded Truffle perhaps?
Marge: Actually, I was thinking of something even more romantic.

The player then receives "Valentine's Day Pt. 13", which is to "Build Sir Putt-A-Lot's". The building costs Heart.png50 and takes 24 hours to build. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Heart.png1 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:

Homer: Hey, this is the place where we first...
Marge: That's right. And I thought we could go there again.
Homer: Marge, you're the greatest opposite sex spouse a man could ever have!

The player then receives "Valentine's Day Pt. 14", which is to "Make Homer Snuggle in the Golf Castle" and to "Make Marge Snuggle in the Golf Castle". These one-time tasks take 12 hours and reward the player with Cash.png420 and XP.png100 when each completed on their own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Heart.png1 and XP.png10, thus ending the "Valentine's Day" quest tetrakaidecalogy.

Milhouse: Cool. Though too much attention from girls makes me kind of nervous. My palms are already sweating. And what if Lisa gets jealous? I can't handle this kind of fame.
Bart: Well, I'm off to impress Shauna with my mad skillz. That's right, I pronounced it with a "Z".

Then the player receives "Chasing Shauna Pt. 4", which is to "Make Milhouse Hide Wet Bedsheets" and "Make Bart Skateboard". Bart's task is also a one-time task.

Once finishing the tasks:

Milhouse: Hey Bart, we haven't updated Nerd Ninja this week. Where have you been?
Bart: On a hot date with an experienced woman.
Milhouse: With Shauna? Does that mean you got to second base?
Bart: No. I don't even know if she likes baseball.

Then the player receives the reward for completing the quest, Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Bart's exclamation mark:

Bart: Gee, older girls are high maintenance.
Shauna: And we're fickle too. You're real sweet, but I need the love that only an inappropriately older man can offer.

Then the player receives "Chasing Shauna Pt. 9", which is to "Make Shauna Seek Inappropriate Love". The task takes 24 hours and rewards the player with Cash.png1,000 and XP.png225. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10, concluding the "Chasing Shauna" quest ennealogy.

The eleventh content update

File:Tapped Out Eleventh Content Update Buildings.jpg
A screenshot of the buildings menu, showing the Wiggum House (with Ralph), El Chemistri and the lowered price of the Pimento Grove.

Some Tapped Out players posted on the game forums that they had received two content updates (technically). The content of the eleventh content update had been downloaded with the content of the tenth.

A user posted on the forums on February 2, 2012 that the price of the "Escalator To Nowhere" had been changed to Cash.png500,000 with the update; a user posted on that same thread on February 4, 2013 that at least Milhouse's "Eat at Phineas Q. Butterfat's" task had been cut from 8 hours long to 30 minutes long, also with the update. None of these things actually happened on the update's official release.

The update was released officially on February 14, 2013. On that date, players on the Tapped Out forums reported that "The Science Fund" had appeared in the Store, costing $14.99 or £10.49. "The Science Fund" later became one of Gil's offers.

Gameplay

This does not include the gameplay of the "This Little Wiggy" storyline.

After the player installs the update, a dialogue box appears:

Lisa: Happy Valentine's, everyone!

And then a notice appears saying that the player has completed "Happy Valentine's Day" and rewards the player with Donut Tapped Out.png5.

Gil's offers

"The Science Fund" offer

Tapped Out The Science Fund offer.png
Tapped Out Heart Grinder.png

A week after the update was released, another update was released featuring another one of Gil's offers. The offer also came with a new way to get rid of surplus hearts, the Heart Grinder, where the player can "Use Hearts to win money!". For Heart.png20, the player can win money from their surplus hearts. Also, this is the first offer to appear on the Android version of the game; the Heart Grinder was not included in the Android offer update, due to the Valentine's update not being released for Android.

After Gil appears in your town and tapping on his "Professor Frink" bubble:

Gil: Scientists! Get your scientists here!
Lisa: You can't sell the creation of a scientist! Only graduate schools can do that.
Professor Frink: Please little girl, I've been trapped alone for so long in a plane of existence that only I understand. I just want to come back and be trapped alone in my laboratory.

Then the offer pops up, with Gil saying "Who wouldn't want an awkward nerd in their town?", with Frink's Lab in a photograph next to him. Also in the offer pop-up is an image of Professor Frink, with a Homer Buddha and an image of a money pile.

The offer contains Frink's Lab, Professor Frink, Cash.png50,000 and a Homer Buddha - a Donut Tapped Out.png490 value. With the offer, these cost Donut Tapped Out.png250.

If the player declines the offer:

Professor Frink: It's that kind of disinterest in science that's keeping us from going to Mars!

The offer lasted from February 21, 2013 to February 24/25, 2013. Gil disappears from your town when the offer is up.

The twelfth content update

A Golden Scratch-R before being 'scratched'.
Tapped Out Gorgeous Grampa artwork.png

The twelfth content update was released on February 28, 2013, and is an episode tie-in with "Gorgeous Grampa".

The App Store description of the update (version 4.1.3) describes the content added in the last update instead of what is in this update.

The update removed the ability to purchase the Valentine's Day update buildings and decorations. The update also added the ability to purchase a "Golden Scratch-R", which had appeared on the iTunes Tapped Out listing a while back in the list of purchases. A Golden Scratch-R costs 99¢/69p/0,89€ and the jackpot is Donut Tapped Out.png100.

If you buy a Scratch-R, it will tell you how many donuts you could have won with what you won in cash. For example, if you got three mallets (winning Cash.png750), a little notice would appear below what you had won telling you "You could have won 15 donuts with a Golden Scratch-R". Scratching off three mallets actually wins the player Donut Tapped Out.png12 in the Golden Scratch-R, not Donut Tapped Out.png15.

Gorgeous Grampa was the first outfit available on Android.

Gameplay

A notice appears reading: "This Sunday's episode of The Simpsons features Grampa as a bad-body wrestling star in the 50s." Then another notice appears, reading: "You'll find his wrestling outfit in your inventory!"

If the player has not built the Retirement Castle, which unlocks Grampa, they will be taken to their inventory. Tapping on "Use" displays a notice which tells the player they need to unlock Grampa before they can use the outfit.

If the player has built the Retirement Castle, they will immediately receive a notice saying they have completed the quest "Gorgeous Grampa", and the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10

Then the player unlocks Gorgeous Grampa, and receives XP.png25 for doing so.

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:

Homer: Hey dad, I didn't know you were a cross-dresser.
Gorgeous Grampa: I'm not, you idjit! It's my old wrestling outfit.
Homer: You? A wrestler? Your whole body looks prolapsed.
Gorgeous Grampa: I used to be oh-so-beefy & beautiful! I could stare at myself for hours!

Then the player receives "Gorgeous Grampa Pt. 1", which is to "Make Gorgeous Grampa Admire Himself". The task takes 4 hours and rewards the player with Cash.png175 and XP.png45 when the task is completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on his exclamation mark:

Gorgeous Grampa: I was the 'Glamorous Godfrey' and I was the original bad boy of the squared circle.
Bart: Grampa, really? You were a bad boy? I always thought you were lame.
Gorgeous Grampa: Ha! I was boastful before your rap musickers and TV beach Italians of today.
Bart: Awesome, can you come to my show and tell?

Then the player receives "Gorgeous Grampa Pt. 2", which is to "Make Gorgeous Grampa Go to Show and Tell". The task takes 8 hours and rewards the player with Cash.png275 and XP.png70 when the task is completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on his exclamation mark:

Bart: Grampa, all my friends thought you were weird!
Gorgeous Grampa: That's the problem with kids today - they don't know how to prance and preen!

Then the player receives "Gorgeous Grampa Pt. 3", which is to "Make Gorgeous Grampa Prance and Preen". The task takes 12 hours and rewards the player with Cash.png420 and XP.png100 when the task completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10, completing the "Gorgeous Grampa" quest trilogy.

The thirteenth content update

The thirteenth content update was released on March 7, 2013 and was a St. Patrick's Day update. The update comes with two new characters, one building and two decorations, one a premium decoration, one only obtainable after completing the event storyline.

With the update came a new task for Lisa to "Meditate" for 30 minutes at the Springfield Buddhist Temple. This building has not been added to the game yet, and does appear in the game files. (For more information on characters and buildings to be added in future content updates, go to this section.)

Gameplay

Once installing the update:

Homer: Woohoo! St. Patrick's Day is coming! The day we all pub crawl to celebrate St. Patrick and whatever he was or did. Too bad you can't pub crawl in a town with only one pub.
Lisa: Didn't you and Grampa buy a pub when we went to Ireland?
Homer: I miss that place. Sometimes I wish you could just press a button and build the buildings you wish were built.

Then the player receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 1", which is to "Build O'Flanagan's Pub". The building costs Cash.png1,900, and takes 24 hours to build. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

Then the player unlocks Tom O'Flanagan and receives XP.png25 for doing so.

After tapping on Tom O'Flanagan's exclamation mark:

Tom O'Flanagan: This don't look like Ireland. Where are the Bonos? Where are The Edges?
Homer: Tom O'Flanagan! Welcome to America!
Tom O'Flanagan: America, is it? Well, one debt-ridden, overly-religious craphole's as good as the next, I s'pose.

The player then receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 2", which is to "Make Tom O'Flanagan Clean Beer Mugs". The task takes 8 hours and the task rewards the player with Cash.png275 and XP.png70 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

Homer's 'Promote his Bar' task.

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:

Homer: O'Flanagan's Pub is open for business!
Tom O'Flanagan: Hold on, laddy. Runnin' a pub is no picnic! It's hard work -- work that takes arbitrary lengths of time to complete!
Homer: I'm a guy who needs six hours to lounge in a pool but only six SECONDS to clean up nuclear waste. I know arbitrary, okay?
Tom O'Flanagan: And there's other tasks that might seem, well, a wee bit pointless. Like they don't necessarily aid in running a business...

The player receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 3", which is to "Make Tom O'Flanagan Do an Irish Jig" and "Make Homer Promote his Bar". Both Tom O'Flanagan's task and Homer's task take 12 hours and both tasks reward the player with Cash.png420 and XP.png100 when each completed on their own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

Then the player receives the following dialogue following the completion of Part 3.

Cletus: Saw me a little green fella this morning - and not a drop of moonshine the night before.
Lisa: That must be a leprechaun! According to Irish folklore, they're miniature old men who frequently have pots of gold.
Homer: By *gold* do you mean grind currency or donuts?
Lisa: Neither, I jut mean gold.
Homer: But that's worth nothing in our world!
Lisa: Still, it would be nice to have a Leprechaun in our town. We should build a wishing well to entice one!
Leprechaun: Premium character, am I? Ain't that a fine thing?

The Leprechaun is a premium character that is unlocked following the purchase of the Donut Tapped Out.png150 Wishing Well.

After tapping on Tom O'Flanagan's exclamation mark:

Tom O'Flanagan: I only hope Americans have as a unhealthy a relationship with alcohol as my countrymen.

The player then receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 4", which is to "Make Tom O'Flanagan Serve Drinks" and to "Send [12] Springfield Residents to Drink at O'Flanagans". The characters that have "Drink at O'Flanagan's" tasks are Homer, Apu, Ned, Cletus, Skinner, Willie, Comic Book Guy, Grampa, Mrs. Krabappel and Barney - which adds up to 10 (9, if you don't have Barney). This means that the player will need to send either two or three characters to "Drink at O'Flanagans" twice. The reason for, if the player has Barney, why the quest requires two more characters to complete the task, is most probably because Lenny and Carl, characters to be unlocked in a future content update, may have been included in the number accidentally, similar to how Lisa's "Meditate" task was added accidentally. All of the tasks are 4 hours long and each task rewards the player with Cash.png175 and XP.png45 when completed on their own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Tom O'Flanagan's exclamation mark:

Tom O'Flanagan: That was a fine craic! Time to rest my heels.

The player then receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 5", which is to "Make Tom O'Flanagan Watch Old Horse Races". The task takes 60 minutes and the task rewards the player with Cash.png70 and XP.png17 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:

Homer: I'd love to get the gang together for another boozefest. We always black out and have some presumably great times.
Tom O'Flanagan: What's stopping ya?
Homer: Marge says you can only do fun stuff in moderation for some stupid reason.
Tom O'Flanagan: We had moderation in Ireland. Then the economy went belly-up, and we gave self-destruction a try. Best move we ever made.

Then the player receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 6". The quest is the same as "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 4", to "Make Tom O'Flanagan Serve Drinks" and to "Send [12] Springfield Residents to Drink at O'Flanagan's". Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:

Homer: Hey Willie, bet you're proud to have your very own Irish bar in Springfield?
Willie: I'm not Irish, I'm Scottish! We're totally different kinds of English-haters!
Homer: You both talk funny. That's pretty strong evidence you're the same people.
Willie: Now I'm lookin' for a fight.

Then the player receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 7", which is to "Reach Level 10 and Build Willie's Shack" and to "Send Willie to Drink at O'Flanagan's". The task takes 4 hours and the task rewards the player with Cash.png175 and XP.png45 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Tom O'Flanagan's exclamation mark:

Tom O'Flanagan: Lookin' for a fight, Scot?
Willie: Kind of you to notice, Irish.
Homer: Guys, guys! You're Americans now! Here, the Scottish and Irish put aside their differences. And unite with all Americans of European descent in looking down on OTHER immigrant groups. Whose only crime is arriving here a few years later than we did. Which is the worst crime ever.
Willie: *Sniff* That's beautiful...
Tom O'Flanagan: Give us a hug, Willie!

Then the player receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 8", which is to "Send Willie to Drink at O'Flanagan's". The task takes 4 hours and the task rewards the player with Cash.png175 and XP.png45 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:

Homer: Oohhh, my head! I never thought I'd say this, but this holiday involves too much drinking.
Tom O'Flanagan: Homer, to thank you for uniting us Gaels, Willie and I created a special gift for you... using his groundskeeping abilities and my Irishness!
Willie: We've put it in your storage.
Homer: Please. Not so loud, guys.

Then the player receives the final "St. Paddy's Day" quest, "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 9", which is to "Place the Shamrock Topiary". Once tapping "Do it", the player is taken to the inventory, where the Shamrock Topiary is. The Shamrock Topiary is a decoration only available through finishing this quest line. The decoration improves the player's Vanity rating. Upon completing the quest, and placing the Shamrock Topiary, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10, ending the "St. Paddy's Day" quest ennealogy.

St. Patrick's Day message

On March 17, 2013, when the player logged into the game, they received:

Homer: Happy St. Patrick's Day! *Hick*

Then the player completes "Happy St. Patrick's Day!", and in reward for doing so, the player receives Donut Tapped Out.png5 and XP.png10.

The fourteenth content update

The fourteenth content update was released on March 14, 2013 and was a tie-in with "Dark Knight Court".

This update removed Lisa's greyed-out 30 minute "Meditate" task at the Springfield Buddhist Temple.

Gameplay

After installing the update:

A notice appears, saying "In this Sunday's episode on FOX a new billionaire superhero arrives in Springfield!"

Then:

Bart: Cool! Does he have his own comic book series?
Comic Book Guy: Not yet. But I'm sure Bongo will throw something together soon.
Fruit-Bat-Man: They must never know my true identity! (TENTING FINGERS) Excellent.

Then another notice appears, saying "Find the superhero's signal in your inventory."

At this time, the Fruit-Bat-Signal is in the player's inventory.

Characters

  • Fruit-Bat-Man - Donut Tapped Out.png90 - Mr. Burns outfit

Fruit-Bat-Man

After buying and unlocking Fruit-Bat-Man, and after tapping on his exclamation mark:

Fruit-Bat-Man: Ah, already I feel my body strengthening to adapt to the extra weight of this cape. Now to begin the rigorous physical training necessary to become a superhero.

The player receives "Fruit-Bat-Man Pt. 1", which is to "Make Fruit-Bat-Man Pose in front of the Mirror". The task takes 60 minutes and the task rewards the player with Cash.png105 and XP.png26 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Fruit-Bat-Man's exclamation mark:

Fruit-Bat-Man: Well, I look good... but I knew that already. But to be a superhero, it takes more than just the stamina to stand in front of mirror for an hour. I need to sharpen my mental acuity as well.

Then the player receives "Fruit-Bat-Man Pt. 2", which is to "Make Fruit-Bat-Man Rehearse Heroic One-Liners". The task takes 8 hours and the task rewards the player with Cash.png420 and XP.png105 when completed on its own.

When the task is completed:

Fruit-Bat-Man: Now I possess brains as well as brawn... as well as the organs of a lot of dead cops. My metamorphosis is complete!

Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:

Homer: Cool outfit, Mr. Burns. Bit early for Halloween though, isn't it?
Fruit-Bat-Man: What, you recognized me?! Now I must give you a lashing to insure you never tell another soul my true identity!
Homer: You're gonna release the hounds on me?
Fruit-Bat-Man: No, I'm going to do it myself. I have to break in my fighting gear anyway.

Then the player receives "Fruit-Bat-Man Pt. 3", which is to "Make Fruit-Bat-Man Practice Punching Out a Crook". The task takes 12 hours and the task rewards the player with Cash.png600 and XP.png150 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10

After tapping on Fruit-Bat-Man's exclamation mark:

Fruit-Bat-Man: I've got the costume, I've got the brooding, I've got the no longer fearing death -- what's another week anyway. Now all I need is a superpower. Perhaps I can take advantage of the fact that my weight is the same as that of a postage stamp.

Then the player receives "Fruit-Bat-Man Pt. 4", which is to "Make Fruit-Bat-Man Fly like a Decrepit Superhero". The task takes 4 hours and the task rewards the player with Cash.png200 and XP.png55 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10.

After tapping on Fruit-Bat-Man's exclamation mark:

Fruit-Bat-Man: Ow. Ow. Ouch! Damn, that concrete is so unforgiving. I should have practiced on one of those grassy areas instead.

Then the player receives "Fruit-Bat-Man Pt. 5", which is to "Reach Level 25 and Build the Burns Manor" and to "Make Fruit-Bat-Man Sooth his Welts and Bruises". The task takes 24 hours and the task rewards the player with Cash.png1,000 and XP.png225 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives Cash.png100 and XP.png10, bringing the "Fruit-Bat-Man" quest-line to its conclusion.

The fifteenth content update

Tapped Out Lenny and Carl artwork.png

The fifteenth content update was released on March 21, 2013.

In the thirteenth content update, a task for Lisa to "Meditate" for 30 minutes at the Springfield Buddhist Temple appeared, locked, in Lisa's task list. The task was removed with the next update, before being released officially with this update.

The content of the update was known a few weeks before its release; on March 7, 2013, both the TSTO Player forum and the official EA Tapped Out forum posted a list of new characters and buildings set to be introduced with a Level 27 content update.

The update also changed the length of Tom O'Flanagan's, introduced in the St. Patrick's Day update, "Visit the Track" task from 3 hours to 24 hours.

The description of the Mystery Box was also changed to "A prize in every box with a chance to win premium items!"

Many players posted on the Tapped Out forum that with the update the XP goal had been reduced to a mere 9,000 and caused the XP bar to freeze. According to the TSTO Tips blog, if the player buys between 10-40 weather stations the XP bar should start moving again.

Upcoming content updates

Note: The following information may be a mixture of rumors and fact.

On February 27, 2013, a user on the Tapped Out forums posted black-and-white images of two characters, a building and decorations to be introduced in future updates; the images being found in the game files.

Earlier, on February 25, 2013, a user on the TSTO Player forum (http://tstappedout.proboards.com) posted black-and-white images of three decorations and a character. The decorations, however, had snow on them in the images so it is likely these decorations were supposed to be introduced in either the Christmas Update or the Level 25 Update. (These are noted by a "*") The character image featured what would appear to be an 'unlock' image of Gil, indicating that he will be implemented into the game sometime in the future.

On March 22, 2013, two users on the TSTO Player forum posted a lot of info about new items, new episode tie-ins and new items to be added in the Whacking Day update. (These are marked with a "-")

On March 23, 2012, a user on the Tapped Out forums posted a list of upcoming quests to do with gambling and Snake and Sideshow Bob. Also on that date, one of the users posted a list of "Miss Springfield" quests and more decorations and buildings. (These are all marked with a "=")

The user that posted the information said that there may be "Mini Games" added to the game that could be included for each building. The user said the coding works like the Homer's Buddha/Mystery Box/Leprechaun Tap; a Random # is generated, then used to determine the prize gained. The odds of winning a prize from a building are 66%, with odds of each listed item being:

  • 1st Item Listed: 5%
  • 2nd Item: 10%
  • 3rd Item: 14%
  • 4th Item: 17%
  • 5th Item: 20%

which equals 66% total odds. The other 33% of the time does not result in a prize. Each item has a cost of Donut Tapped Out.png1 assigned to it, presumably the cost of playing the 'mini game'

The items listed for each building are:

  • Simpsons House: Krusty Doll, Boat picture, Slingshot, Lisa's Sax, Ned's Lawn Mower
  • Flanders House: Bible Card, Religious Board Game, Last Supper, Bible, Maude Picture

The Whacking Day song:

Oh Whacking Day!
Oh Whacking Day!
Our hallowed snake skull-cracking day!
We'll break their backs!
Gouge out their eyes!
Their evil hearts we'll pulverize!
Oh Whacking Day!
Oh Whacking Day!
May God bestow his grace on thee
Ninja Homer: *sobbing* I love this time of year.

60 Free Donuts

During June 2012, EA took the game offline to fix the Springfields affected. Because some towns had been reset to a certain level and their design changed, those players were given Donut Tapped Out.png60 for the inconvenience.

Black Friday Eve

On November 22, 2012, players got a message from Homer: "Happy Black Friday Eve!". A few players on the EA Tapped Out forums reported that they got donuts after dismissing the message and another player reported that their friend got Cash.png1,000. However, these reports might well be coincidental, like a daily bonus mistaken for a special bonus.
