Radioactive Man once met the Kansas City Royals in Radioactive Man Meets The Kansas City Royals.[2][3]
Behind the Laughter[edit]
The Kansas City Royals are a baseball team that has been in the American League since their creation in 1969. After losing the 1980 World Series against the Phillidelphia Phillies, the Royals won the 1985 World Series against the Cardinals.
Based on the outdated nature of Springfield Mall at the time, the The Kansas City Royals: Forever Champions was likely published after 1985, when the team won the World Series. The joke then, being that the team thought they would be really successful, but now (as of that episode, in 2006) they've been doing very poorly. They have since won another World Series, in 2015.
- This reference was also invoked in the episode "The Book Job" with quotes such as "This better not turn out like Kansas City." and "It won't be like Kansas City."[4]
