Wikisimpsons - The Simpsons Wiki
New York Mets
Sports Team Information
Sport: Baseball
First appearance: "Much Apu About Nothing"

The New York Mets are a current Major League Baseball (MLB) team in Queens, New York.

History[edit]

To demonstrate he's an American, Apu once wore a New York Mets shirt.[1]

When he was talking about priorities, Homer mentioned the 1969 Mets, who won the World Series and mentioning that nobody cares about Ron Swoboda's wife and kids, including Ron Swoboda.[2]

Shea Stadium, the Mets stadium until 2009 was mentioned when Bart told Homer that they could go to New York now that Homer's two least favorite buildings had been destroyed (Old Penn Station and Shea Stadium).[3]

Behind the Laughter[edit]

The New York Mets are a baseball team that has been in the National League since their creation in 1961. After the New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers moved west to become the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers, New York was left with one baseball team, the Yankees. Major League Baseball decided to add the Mets to the National League and they have won two World Series championships since 1962 (in 1969 and 1986).
