Cultural references[edit]
- The game store sign "Sequel Stop" is a reference to the store chain GameStop.
- Marge makes reference to DC superheroes Aquaman and Hawkman.
- At the end of the level, Kang and Kodos use the word 'space' to replace certain words, a nod to how The Smurfs would say 'smurf' instead of some nouns and verbs.
- In the Xbox 360/PS3 version, Lisa brings together a cube, a sphere, and a triangle to make a ramp, the arrangement of EA Games' original logo.
- The trophy Marge collects in this level is "Hair Street Blues Hairspray", referencing the TV show Hill Street Blues.
- Bart says "With superpowers comes super responsibility", a reference to the phrase "with great power comes great responsibility".
- The whole level is an obvious reference to controversy caused by the Grand Theft Auto series and other Rockstar games.
- Hillary Clinton being present is most likely a reference to "Hot Coffee" controversy surrounding San Andreas.
- The name of the EA executive is Larry Probst, based on the then-CEO of Electronic Arts.
- A Riot Cop mentions Bob Dylan.
- Ralph mentions playing the game Big Mutha Truckers.
Trivia[edit]
- In the Wii/PS2/PSP version, Skinner can be recruited into the mob. He is found outside the same museum he tried to steal from in Bartman Begins.
- When the GTS kids are knocked out in the Xbox 360/PS3 version it is visualized with a cartoonish effect where stars and The Raven flies around their heads, implying that the children have been knocked unconscious, rather than killed.
Continuity[edit]
Chief Wiggum will say behind the barricade "Hey, leave me alone, I just lost an eating contest." referencing the eating contest at the previous level Around the World in 80 Bites.
