"NeverQuest" is the eleventh level of The Simpsons Game. To open the door of the creator's mansion, Homer and Marge look for the four keycards in the four worlds created by the creator, one of which is a land attacked by a two headed dragon.

Description

After the level "Bargain Bin" is completed, four more levels open up at the game engine. These can be taken in any order but, following the story, this is the next level. It is also the first level in which Homer can use his new power, "Gummi-Homer", and Marge can use her new "mega-megaphone".

Plot

Image for NeverQuest

Homer and Marge are transported to a magical land where they become elves. They’re enjoying a break without the kids until Todd, Rod, and Ralph show up, running from a two-headed dragon (Patty and Selma). Marge recruits the kids, and Homer prepares to fight the dragon. The dragon burns three wooden bridges, turning them into ramps. Homer uses his Homerball ability to hit the dragon when it flies over the ramps, knocking it down. Marge orders the kids to kick the dragon while it's down, and to repair any houses it burns. After several hits, the dragon flies away.

Homer and Marge ask the mobbits for the keycard, but they say it’s behind a magically locked door. However, Homer easily opens the door with a kick. Inside, they find a dungeon full of Morcs (orc versions of Moe) and Otto-Ghosts (ghost versions of Otto). Marge recruits more mobbits to help defeat the enemies. To open a gate, Homer steps on one platform while Marge and two kids step on another. Homer is lifted to a ledge where he finds a helium tank, transforming into Helium Homer to reach a switch that opens the door.

They enter a maze with three gates that require hidden keys to open. After passing through, they reach another cave with a chasm of lava. Homer floats over as Helium-Homer and destroys a post using Homerball. On the other side, a dragon-shaped door is locked. Marge orders four mobbits to stand on lava platforms, which raises golden coins. She jumps onto the dragon’s nose and sends Maggie into its eye to press a button that opens the door.

In the dragon's cave, lava fills most of the area. The dragon drops eggs with Morcs and breathes fire. Homer needs to use the helium tanks to turn into Helium-Homer and hit Selmatty on the head 3 times, with the final hit knocking Selmatty into the lava. Marge isn’t a fan of family fighting, but she enjoyed having a level without the kids. Homer retrieves the "dragon keycard" from the dragon’s nest, muttering "My precious!"

Gameplay

Xbox 360/PS3 version

The final fight with Selmatty (Xbox 360/PS3 version), a gameplay similar to Joust (video game)

First, use Marge's mob control to recruit some mobbits. Then switch to Homerball and wait for Selmatty to pause between the bridges. Charge across and hit Selmatty to knock it down. Switch back to Marge and have your mobbits attack. Do this three times to defeat Selmatty before it causes too much damage to the buildings.

Next, you'll enter a dungeon. Destroy the gray brick structure where the Morcs are spawning from, and look for coffins to recruit more mobbits. Move forward and go up the stairs, taking out Morcs and spawn doors along the way. At the top, open a treasure chest and pull a lever to unlock a large door below. Go through it and step on the buttons to switch to the second area of the dungeon.

Move up to a closed area, destroy the wall, defeat the Morcs, and grab the key. Return to the yellow wall, which will disappear, and enter the hole. In the next section, go left to find a key at the dead end. Head back, move right, destroy the wall, and collect another key. Finally, head to the bottom of the area and open the gold wall to reach the exit.

Into the next area, destroying both spawn points will reveal pressure plates. Use them to open a door with several spawn points and enemies inside. Take out the spawn points first. Then, command 4 mobbits to stand on the claws of the giant dragon to be sacrificed, which raises golden stairs. Climb the stairs to the dragon’s eyes and send Maggie inside the right one. Press the red buttons to open the dragon’s mouth.

Now you’ll face Selmatty in three phases. Homer must float up and hit Patty and Selma on the head. Watch their flight patterns and hover where they fly most often. Between the 2nd and 3rd wave, Homer needs to destroy eggs, or they will hatch into Morcs.

Wii/PS2/PSP version

The dragons chamber

The first area is mostly the same layout-wise, with the only difference being that instead of needing Marge to command her Mob to attack, Homer can use his Homerball ability to attack Selmatty.

Run forward into a large stone hall filled with Morcs and Otto Ghosts. Your first priority is to destroy the spawners where the enemies come from. Free the Mobbits from crates to help you with this task. Collect all Mobbits along the way as they'll be useful later. Avoid Otto Ghosts, as they explode when they get close. Fight through the Morcs using Mobbits and Homer Ball, until you reach the elevated area in front of a large wooden door. Use Marge's megaphone to place two Mobbits on the platform to the right and Homer on the left platform. Then, move Marge onto the right platform, which will raise the left one. Defeat the Morc at the top, use helium to float Homer to a lever, and hit it to open the door.

Inside the maze, find the first key on the right side in a small room full of Morcs. Destroy the spawner and Morcs, grab the key, and head to the gold gate. Be sure to open food chests for Homer and free Mobbits from crates.

In the next area, destroy the spawner, then head to the top-right corner to break a cracked wall using Homer Ball and find the second key. Use it to unlock the second gate on the left. For the final key and gate, grab the key and proceed. Open the ammo box on the right, switch to Gummi Homer, and destroy all enemies and spawners. Switch to Marge, collect a Mobbit from a crate, and knock down the pillar on the left. Switch back to Homer and use his Homer Ball dash to cross a destroyed bridge. Quickly open the ammo box on the right and use Gummi Homer again to clear enemies and spawners on this side. Collect food from another ammo box and bring down the other pillar to complete the bridge for Marge and the Mobbits. Use the Mobbits to build a trampoline near the Dragon Gate, jump onto the dragon's muzzle, and place Maggie in the dragon’s left eye. Navigate through a tunnel, wait for the flames on the small bridge to die down, cross it, and press the button to open the dragon's mouth.

Inside the dragons lair, destroy the nearby spawners and send Mobbits to defeat a Morc across the lava. Afterward, direct them to break a stone with green leaks, revealing Gummi Pick-ups for Homer. Use Gummi Homer to destroy the stone pillar and cross the new bridge. Now, use Homer to clear stones leading up to an altar. Place a Mobbit there to distract Selmatty. Then, position Homer on the third stone rising from the lava and shoot gummi balls at Selmatty. Keep targeting Selmatty until she's defeated. If you run out of ammo, return to the ground for more and continue firing until the dragon is defeated.

DS version

Homer fighting Selmatty

To defeat Selmatty, jump onto the houses, then use the ramps to launch into the air and hit her. After a few hits, she'll fall to the ground, giving you a chance to attack. She’ll fly up again, and you’ll repeat the process until she flies away, opening the dungeon.

Inside the dungeon, recruit Homer and destroy the Morcs and their spawner. Break the wooden chests, then knock down the wall ahead. Collect Mobbits from crates and use them to defeat more Morcs and spawners. Keep moving forward, breaking walls and defeating enemies until you reach the dungeon exit on the far right.

The maze is simple. You’ll need to find keys to open the yellow doors. Destroy spawners on the right side of the first yellow door to reveal the first key. Use your mob to defeat all enemies and spawners as you progress. At the end of the second area, find the key next to the second yellow door. In the smaller third area, clear the enemies, grab the key on the right, and exit.

In the dragon chamber, float across the lava pit using Helium Homer, then jump on flying lava rocks to reach a high platform. Head left and follow the red walkway past the Morcs, avoiding their arrows. Use the helium tank to pass the giant soldier statue, then use the Homer Ball ramp to reach the stone walkway below. Jump on the red button to lower the door. Return to the red walkway, press the button to switch to Marge, and guide her to the large chains hanging from the ceiling. Cross the platforms, jump onto the dragon’s snout, and drop Maggie into the tunnel to hit the switch. Return to cross the dragon door and exit.

Inside the dragon's nest, avoid Selmatty's fireballs and keep attacking her when she lands. Repeat the process until she is defeated for good.
