Springfield A&M is one of Springfield's universities, and the longtime rival of Springfield University.
A&M's mascot is a pig named "Sir Oinks-A-Lot" who has several powerful friends, including Richard Nixon,[1] on whom he conferred an honorary degree. The college is often referred to as a "cow college," as the institution was literally founded by a cow.[2]
Springfield A&M and Springfield University meet in an annual football game. The schools' rivalry also comes out in other ways, such as when four Springfield University students (Homer Simpson and his nerd friends Benjamin, Doug and Gary) kidnapped Sir Oinks-A-Lot as a prank.
