History

After the Simpson family received money from Great-Aunt Hortense Simpson, Marge took Bart and Lisa to the Bank of Springfield to deposit their inheritance. Bart opened a checking account with free customized checks, while Lisa opened a savings account. Later, Bart used a 25-cent check to try to obtain Krusty’s autograph. When the canceled check came back with a stamp from the Cayman Islands Offshore Holding Corporation instead of Krusty’s signature, Bart returned to the bank to complain. The bank teller explained that a stamp could legally be used to endorse a check, but became suspicious after seeing the Cayman Islands company name. The teller contacted the Cayman Islands, and the information ultimately led authorities to discover Krusty’s secret offshore account and arrest him for tax evasion.[1]

The Bank of Springfield was the bank the check came from when the Flanders family bought a house from Marge at Red Blazer Realty.[2]
