• The episode title is a reference to the 1988 comedy film Married to the Mob. Married to the Blob was also the title of a segment of "Treehouse of Horror XVII".

• The Spider-man comic depicts Doc Ock with blond hair and Mary-Jane with black hair, though in the comics Ock has brown hair and Mary-Jane has ginger hair.
