- When Bart pilots his drone to outer space, the two astronauts outside a destroyed space station parody Sandra Bullock and George Clooney's characters in the 2013 science fiction thriller Gravity.
- Krusty lost part of his fortune in the Bitcoin market.
- Lisa suggests Krusty to sell foreign rights to his show, and gives the example of the sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond. This sitcom was adapted in Russia, Poland and many other countries.
- Men from Repo Depot take Water Lily, a 1906 painting by Claude Monet.
- The name "John Jacob Jingleheimer Chun", seen on Skinner's list of names, is a reference to the children's song "John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt".

- The tagline "Yvan eht nioj" ("Join the Navy" spelled backwards) is seen during the film promoting the submarine ride. The tagline was previously seen in "New Kids on the Blecch".
- Homer says he'll need to fake his own death someday. He faked his death in "Mother Simpson".
- Krusty's custom limo seen before in "Black Widower" is reposed.
- A posit in Krusty's dressing room with a call me back message from Jay Leno (seen aiding Krusty in "The Last Temptation of Krust").
- When Skinner crosses Wendell's name off the list, several names disappear and are replaced with Cosine Tangent, Scabies Spuckler and Sniffles Spuckler, also Hubert Wong's name suddenly appears on the list.
- In the large shot of the gym, there are duplicates of Richard, Lewis Clark and Nina Skalka visible.
- Dr. Hibbert's children are seen at the assembly, even though they go to a different school.
