This is a list of jobs held by the fictional character Homer Simpson from the animated television series The Simpsons. Jobs which may not be considered canon (such as jobs in Treehouse of Horror episodes) are indicated in <em style="color:green;font-style:normal">green</em>. As of now, Homer has had 122 jobs, 114 excluding the non-canon.

This is a list of jobs held by the fictional character Homer Simpsonanimated television series The Simpsons.

One main source for these jobs is in the episode "Papa's Got a Brand New Badge." Right before he goes to bed Homer tells Marge, "I’ve had a lot of jobs in my life: boxer, mascot, astronaut, baby proofer, imitation Krusty, truck driver, hippie, plow driver, food critic, conceptual artist, grease salesman, carny, mayor, grifter, body guard for the mayor, country western manager, garbage commissioner, mountain climber, farmer, inventor, Smithers, Poochie, celebrity assistant, power plant worker, fortune cookie writer, beer baron, Kwik-E-Mart clerk, homophobe, and missionary, but protecting people, that gives me the best feeling of all." According to an interview with Matt Groening, Homer has held 188 jobs.

Also a source is the "Picture a Day..." spoof where the last few seconds show jobs and other types of Homer prior to the 400th episode. According to an interview with Matt Groening, Homer has held 188 jobs in the first 400 episodes.

:His job in the first season, before promotion to safety inspector.  It was unclear to everyone (including his employer and Homer himself). In "Lisa's First Word" it's mentioned that he is a "nucleared technician", and in "Homer's Odyssey" he calls himself a "technical supervisor". He was hired as part of "Project Bootstrap," a (fictional) government program to bring in unskilled workers implemented by the Ford administration.  In the episode 'Much Apu About Nothing,' it is revealed that Homer makes $6.5945 an hour. Considering inflation since 1989 that would bring his pre-promotion income to $21,680 2006 dollars ($10.81 per hour).

Revision as of 12:05, March 5, 2008

This is a list of jobs held by the fictional character Homer Simpsonanimated television series The Simpsons.

One main source for these jobs is in the episode "Papa's Got a Brand New Badge." Right before he goes to bed Homer tells Marge, "I’ve had a lot of jobs in my life: boxer, mascot, astronaut, baby proofer, imitation Krusty, truck driver, hippie, plow driver, food critic, conceptual artist, grease salesman, carny, mayor, grifter, body guard for the mayor, country western manager, garbage commissioner, mountain climber, farmer, inventor, Smithers, Poochie, celebrity assistant, power plant worker, fortune cookie writer, beer baron, Kwik-E-Mart clerk, homophobe, and missionary, but protecting people, that gives me the best feeling of all." Also a source is the "Picture a Day..." spoof where the last few seconds show jobs and other types of Homer prior to the 400th episode. According to an interview with Matt Groening, Homer has held 188 jobs in the first 400 episodes.[1]
