Two sketches of The Simpsons characters as instruments were revealed on March 22, 2013 by David Silverman via Twitter.
The music for the couch gag was recorded before the scoring session for the episode, it contains 40 different bits of music over 3 different scoring sessions. The music is 30-second passages of Mozart and Grieg, 15-second stretches of jazz music by Alf Clausen and one second bursts of brass, bagpipes, drums, accordion, sleigh bells, and other musical sounds. Two of the classical pieces used are Mozart's 28th Symphony and Grieg's Peer Gynt.[1]
