- The episode title is a reference to the film Singin' in the Rain.
- Among the people Mr. Burns wanted to invite to the baseball joust are:
- Homer mentions Billy Crystal's doctor.
- Moe's Tavern's jukebox starts playing Chumbawamba's "Tubthumping" when Barney slips down from it.
- The Kingpins are a reference to Kingpin.
- Reynolds claims to be the model for The Wolf of Wall Street.
- One of the Fund Bunch bowlers claims to be the model for American Psycho.
- When the Pin Pals reunite, "The Boys Are Back in Town" by Thin Lizzy plays.
- The Bowler Wears Prada is a reference to The Devil Wears Prada.
- Moe mentions he stopped watching the Oscars as soon as La La Land was announced as Best Picture, indicating he missed seeing all the commotion attendant on the revelation that the Best Picture award was actually won by Moonlight.

- The artwork at Bowling at the Lanes are bowling-themed takes on famous works of art:
- A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat has bowling pins in place of the people.
- A set of paintings of bowling pins in different colors is in the style of a Warhol series.
- Only parts of The Scream by Edvard Munch are shown in several shots; putting them together shows that there is a person in mid-scream, and to his right is a long bowling alley, at the end of which is a 7-10 split.
- Moe saying that the finals would be on ESPN 8 in a reference to the movie DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story.
- The scene in which Moe imagines himself in a bar in Paris is a reference to Édouard Manet's painting A Bar at the Folies-Bergère. Moe's reflection in the mirror does not appear to be a natural perspective which is a feature of the painting.
