It is a parody of the song "The Sound of Music" from the musical The Sound of Music. It is part the "Yokel Chords (Medley)" track on the album The Simpsons: Testify.

Although mountains have frequently been shown near Springfield and the show takes place in the United States, the mountains in the background are exactly alike to the Alps, including the Watzmann, as seen in opening song of the 1965 movie which primarily shot in and around Salzburg, Austria.
