Opening sequence[edit]

• When a man tells Homer that he will be sacrificed to an evil god from the ocean's depths, Homer asks if he means SpongeBob.
• American Exceptionalism, ESPN, Toys "R" Us and Watermelon Oreos' tombstones are seen.

Intrusion of the Pod-Y Switchers[edit]

• It's a parody of the movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers, which in turn is a parody of The Thing. Comic Book Guy mentions it in-episode too.
• Steve Mobbs says that Roseanne has come and gone like a summer storm, referencing its renewal and cancellation.
• The MyPhone Ultima is a reference to the iPhone X.
• The Planet Express Ship from Futurama is seen, carrying a flag saying "Bring back Futurama".
• The Planet Express Ship is shot down by the SCV-197 USS Orville, a reference to the USS Orville (ECV-197) from the show The Orville.
  • The Orville was a show by Seth MacFarlane, and this scene might reference their rivalry.
• A commercial for the Zii and the Zii3 is shown on a Radioactive Man comic.
• The alien version of Chief Wiggum mentions Jerry Steele.
• As Lisa is absorbed by the pod tendrils, there are closeups of her blinking eyes in contrasting colors interspersed with her hallucination, similar to the ending scene of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
• A Smurf from The Smurfs appears in Lisa's hallucination.
• Luci, from Disenchantment, is briefly seen in a Lisa's hallucination.
• The Green Giant appears in Lisa's hallucination.
• Hollis Hurlbut's surprised face and gesture is a reference to the one that Donald Sutherland's character does in the 1978 remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Hollis was voiced by him.

• The Broadway plays:
  • The Phantom of the Lisa is a reference to Phantom of the Opera.
  • Lis Miserables is a reference to Les Misérables.
  • Lisa Simpson Super Nuts is a reference to Jesus Christ Superstar.
• The song Lisa sings is "You'll Be Trapped", a parody of "This Is It", the theme song for The Bugs Bunny Show, written by Mack David and Jerry Livingston.
• Milhouse says his glasses are Gloria Vanderbilt glasses and were on the cover of Women's Health.
• Milhouse tells Lisa that if she keeps yelling like that, she'll get vocal polyps, like Adele.

Geriatric Park[edit]

• The entire segment is a parody of Jurassic Park.
  • While the family travels to the park, doors of Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park 2, Jurassic Park 3, Jurassic World and Jurassic World 2 are seen, referencing those movies.
• The gate of Geriatric Park says that it's "now Goldblum-free".
• Islands seen on the map include:

  • Skull Island from King Kong.
  • The Island from Lost.

• The sphere the Simpsons use to get away is the same as the spheres in Jurassic World.
