History[edit]

When Marge and Waylon Smithers were arrested for wine forgery, they were taken to Alca-Shiraz Wine Jail, where they were held until their trial.

Other inmates at the prison included César, Ugolín, a woman who sold a champagne that was actually a prosecco, a man who called his wine a "Beaujolais nouveau" but there was nothing nouveau about it, and a man who was in solitary for his own protection as he was an oenophile.

Behind the Laughter[edit]

The name of the prison is a reference to Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary and the wine Shiraz.
