• The title is a reference to the 1973 Swedish television miniseries Scenes from a Marriage.
• The song Homer sings in the couch gag is from the animated short Your Face by Bill Plympton.
• Homer refers to him and Marge as "Fred and Ethical" in reference to the characters Fred and Ethel Mertz from the I Love Lucy TV show.

• JJ Gruff's character and looks are based on J. Jonah Jameson. He's also voiced by J. K. Simmons, original voice actor for Jameson in the the original Spider-Man trilogy and other.
• Flashmouth is a play on Smash Mouth.
  • At Flashmouth, Homer repeatedly throws a Wacky WallWalker against the wall.

Trivia[edit]

• Booberella's real name was revealed, Barbara Lelavinski.
• The episode implies that the apartment was in Capital City. However, Marge worked for the Springfield Shopper and all their friends who visited their apartment and nightlife locations implies that they were in Springfield. At the end of the episode, they are seen driving into Springfield, which is too close to be another town away.
