Opening Sequence
- The sequence is a parody of VeggieTales.
- The characters in the sequence are parodies of various candies:
- Barterfinger: Butterfinger.
- Oh Homer!: Nestle's Oh Henry!.
- Maggie: Ring Pop

- Mint Peppermint Patty and Selma: York Peppermint Pattie.

- The part where demonic possessed Maggie breaths out fire is a reference to the 2003 film Exorcism.

- Pazuzu says "the chicken goes [demonic screech and fireball]", a reference to the See 'n Say toy, and "if you can’t trust a Catholic priest with a child, who can you trust", referencing the Catholic Church's cover-up for the priests' child abuse.
- Fisher-Price-like toys excape into a barn.
- A Etch A Sketch toy excapes Maggie's room.
- An aged version of Sheriff Woody from Toy Story shoots himself in the mouth.
- Bart references David Schwimmer and the fact that Friends' co-workers had a difficult time working with him.

- The title and plot of the segment are a parody of Coraline.

- The logo of the series is preceded by The Simpsons Easter Special. The Simpsons haven't had a Easter special yet.
The Exor-Sis
- Marge says that "No one leaves alive" are Maggie's first words, despite them being Daddy ("Lisa's First Word"). Due to this episode being canon it could be considered as demonic possessed Maggie.
Coralisa
- Marge refers to Maggie still recovering from Pazuzu, a reference to the previous segment, The Exor-Sis.
