  • The first several episodes are detours through sci-fi and horror.[52]
  • In one episode, Lisa has a blazing misadventure in the dark world of Capital City's downtown art scene.[8]
  • In one episode, Grampa reveals his secret past as a 1980s-era private detective.[8]
  • One of the first episodes will be a sequel of sorts to "22 Short Films About Springfield" - with a twist.[12][52]
  • One episode in the first half of the season will be dedicated to Ned Flanders reflecting on the deaths of Maude Flanders and Edna Krabappel, because it's "never too late to emotionally address a past trauma".[52]
  • One episode will reference the court room scene from the film Anatomy of a Fall.[53]
  • There are not plans of another cannon halloween episodes for now.[54]
  • One of the specials is based on female driven SNL-like sketches. In a scene, Homer's reluctance to purchase feminine hygiene products for Marge, so the store employees sing a big number to shame him.[55][56]
