Synopsis[edit]
- "Lisa gets an imaginary friend - a depressed British singer from the 1980s, - who makes her feel much better about her friends. Meanwhile, Homer gets a vehicle with awesome torque and becomes a truck guy."
Plot[edit]
At the Springfield Medical Center, Homer receives bad news on his physical, and Dr. Hibbert prescribes him some Vicodude, a prescription drug, after showing him an informational video, preceded by a Road Monster XXXL 550 ad, giving him the idea of needing it instead of the medication.
At home, Marge and Lisa are planting peonies, but Homer scares them with the new truck he bought, destroying them, making Marge angry, while Lisa goes up to her room to enjoy her new Slapify family account, till night, not finding any song she liked.
Slapify notifies her of Quilloughby and his band The Snuffs, a militant vegetarian, and catches her attention. At school, she starts talking about him first to Ralph, and then to all his students at the cafeteria, declaring Mushroom Monday, inspired by the song that he wrote, proposing vegetarian food to them.
However, Lunchlady Dora puts bacon in the tacos, making her eat meat, and everyone eat them, laughing at her face. Back at home, she complains about the situation and Quilloughby appears on her mirror as an hallucination. Bart, Milhouse and Nelson come in her room, making fun of her, but a remark whispered by Quilloughby made Bart feel bad and they left with the knowledge they grew tired of him.
Bart tries to use the same trick on Homer but fails, so Homer starts using his Triple-XL 500 around town with him and Santa's Little Helper, while Lisa goes on a stroll around town with Quilloughby, singing "Everyone Is Horrid Except Me (and Possibly You)", before making Dewey Largo at school. Homer and Marge get called by Skinner for her weird behavior.
Homer, however, gets distracted by Willie having trouble with his tractor Willy and he tries to tow him while Willie tries to do the same thing. Driving her home, Marge talks to her about the behavior but when she stopped listening to her and grabs her MyPhone and AirPods, she cancels her subscription to Slapify, however Quilloughby mentions a concert that the real him and his band is holding, the Bummershoot Festival.
Marge is downstairs preparing lots of sandwiches and Homer tries to add to her trouble with his truck talk, but she shuts him down by proving he's never been a truck guy, and then goes on to deal with Lisa's pre-pre-teen rebellion phase, but notices she's gone, in the bus to the concert, having used her dad's credit card to buy the tickets, laughing with Quilloughby, while everyone wonders who she's laughing with.
Lisa and Quilloughby start arguing over how she thought he was like, till the band arrives on the stage, with the real Quilloughby being completely changed, overweight, greedy and hateful. Everyone boos him, so he starts eating a meat sandwich, having lost his beliefs on being vegan. Imaginary Quilloughby says to Lisa to never follow what he become and to listen to people once in a while, before disappearing, while the real one gets knocked out by the attendees.
Marge and Homer hear the news of the riot, and to save Lisa, Homer wrecks cars and the festival, but he was just dreaming. Marge instead walked over and saved her. Lisa apologizes to her, while Marge tells her the story of how she was angry at her mom in her teenage years. At the end they cuddle while Homer drives them home.
Production[edit]
The music is performed by Benedict Cumberbatch and written by Bret McKenzie.[1]
In an early cut, the Homer physical was MUCH more graphic, and included a POV shot of Homer's butthole.[2]
