Cultural references[edit]
- Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun appear on World at War.
- In the TV advert, Dr. Kissingher compares Moe's solitary Valentine's Day to Sister Act 3 with "no Whoppi". This is the name of a fictional sequel to the film Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, in which Whoopi Goldberg starred. Kissingher is doing a play on words with "whoopee", a euphemism for sexual intercourse.
- There is "Free HBO" in Dr. Kissingher's seminar held at Springfield Airport Motor Lodge.
- When Homer is tied to the bed, he tries to chew off his leg and says that it will be over in 127 hours. This is a reference to the 2010 survival drama film 127 Hours, in which the protagonist Aron Ralston (James Franco) had to amputate his own arm to set himself free from a boulder.
- The name of the Hairy Shearers salon is a pun on The Simpsons cast member Harry Shearer.
- The phrase "you've been grayer than a Seattle Cinco de Mayo" said Julio contrast the lively and colorful celebration of the Cinco de Mayo to the typical overcast and rainy weather of the city of Seattle.
- Julio says he is "Graybraham Lincoln", a pun on Abraham Lincoln.

- Up until this point, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie finally realize that their hair doesn't have a borderline. Their hair always look like it's fused to their head.
- Though in the episode it was revealed that Marge had been gray for years without her knowing, the error in continuity lies in the knowledge: according to "Helter Shelter" and "Secrets of a Successful Marriage" (when Homer told his Learning Annex class that Marge has been gray as a mule since she was 17), Homer and Marge had both already known of Marge's "hair troubles". The 1991 book "The Simpsons Uncensored Family Album" also includes what is apparently Marge's first gray hair.
- When Homer says "Drive my kids to school?!", the dialogue doesn't match his mouth's movements.
