Sideshow Mel's Shredded Wheat Hair Bones was a novelty cereal inspired by Sideshow Mel, featuring bone-shaped pieces meant to resemble the structure holding his hair in place.

History

The cereal was developed as a short-lived tribute to Sideshow Mel and was marketed around the concept of fun, character-based shapes. Its design originated from focus testing that reportedly claimed children wanted cereal shaped like the “tibia” supporting Mel’s hair. Later reports indicated that the testing group consisted of unusually eccentric participants. Due to its niche appeal and unusual concept, the cereal was quickly discontinued.
