- The segment title is a pun on the film The Greatest Story Ever Told.

- In "The Greatest Story Ever Holed", Milhouse's eyebrows are red (see picture on right).
Continuity
- The third story contains a number of references to the Season 2 episode "The Way We Was", most prominent is the detention room scene where Marge and Homer initially fell in love.
It also features an alternate ending, in which after Marge kisses Homer, the Simpsons house returns, as well as every ancester and Bart's new look disappears. Then, Artie disappears too and Homer gets a second head which asks him to know if Marge has a little sister. Here is the link
