  • The Eastern Europe tennis players on the Woman's Doubles Final have names similar to those of Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Petra Kvitová.

  • In the season 14 episode "'Scuse Me While I Miss the Sky", Carl said, when it was bright in the middle of the night, that it reminded him of his Icelandic boyhood.
  • The statue of Björk in the Icelandic Museum of National History was seen blinking.
  • The number plate of the Fjord Fjiesta that Homer, Moe, and Lenny rented in Iceland is RABF14, the production code for the episode.
  • When Homer, Lenny, and Moe are studying Old Icelandic, one of the words they learn is "Forvitinn", meaning "nosy". Upon their arrival in the country, an Icelander described his fellow citizens as "very nosy".
  • Carl's family tree says nothing about Carlotta Carlson. This may have been because his sister wasn't adopted by his adoptive family and he may have met her at a later period, when he had moved to the USA.
