- "My Funny Valentine", sung by Michael Dees, plays whilst Homer is getting ready for Date Night.
- The perfume Paunchy by Kevin James is a reference to his character Doug Heffernan in The King Of Queens.
- Homer's list includes "All the Die Hard movies".
- Squeaky-voiced teen sings "Con te partirò" by Andrea Bocelli.
- Marge says that she feels like Mrs. Remington Steele, a reference to the character Laura Holt in Remington Steele.
- Homer imagines a superhero who looks similar to Wonder Woman, then imagines Marge as that superhero.
- 50 Shades of Shades is a reference to the book and movie Fifty Shades of Grey.
- Ned's Leftorium stall was outside of a Sears store, which shut down due to Amazon.com.
- The sign on the store after it closed down said "Jeff Bezos Rot In Hell".
- Ned mentions taking some Flintstones Vitamins, Batman, Patrick Swayze, and Jesus Christ being a Superstar
- In his office, Ned has a poster of A1 Sauce with the image of Jesus on the bottle and the title "Jesus is A1."

- Ned offers Homer his famous hot cocoa. Ned previously offered it to Bart when Homer ignored him over taking care of Plopper. Ned also references them going fishing together. (The Simpsons Movie)
- The Sit-N-Rotate restaurant's name was changed to The Sip 'N' Spin Lounge. ("Principal Charming")
- Ned goes to the Springfield Office of Unemployment. ("$pringfield (Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Legalized Gambling)")

Trivia[edit]
- The nuclear rods that have fallen down Homer's back is a reference to the opening sequence, where a rod falls down his back every time.
- When Ned first arrives, the Fourth Grade students do an anti-teacher chant which implies that they had had several replacement teachers since Edna's passing and managed get rid of every single one.
