Plot
Lisa is recording a documentary, The Cephalopod Soulmate: After getting a C in 2nd grade, Lisa joined the Future Nature Documentarian Day Camp, going underwater and becoming friends with Molly, an octopus. Her recording is interrupted by Marge when she notices a shark trying to reach Molly and when she snaps a picture of her and Molly together. At school, Skinner and Chalmers welcome a new teacher, Rayshelle Peyton, who transfered to town with her husband, Darryl, and they hire her as the new teacher for Bart's class. However, when Bart meets her, he has a flashback and starts acting weird, running away from her.
At the Aztec Theater, the Future Nature Documentarians Film Festival is playing, showing Lisa's documentary, where the shark eventually catches Molly in her mouth, and everyone cheers at the end for her job. Back at home, however Lisa brings the trophy to her room after showing the sadness in front of Homer and Marge, revealing she saved Molly from the shark. At school, Ms. Peyton prepares herself to enter the teacher lounge, where she introduces the other teachers to project-based learning, presenting them her project to create new Seven Wonders of the World, and they enthusiastically accept.
In class, she starts to know the kids and when she gets to Bart, he is drawing himself with glue but when he tries to explain why he glues paper on his face and stumbles around the room hitting everything. At recess, Milhouse and Nelson makes Bart notice how he's acting weird around her, a nice teacher for once. At home, Molly enters the tubes through the sink, and ends up in Homer's cereals, while Bart is having fun doing homework describing them as cool and having a vision of an angelic Ms. Peyton.
The next morning, Milhouse presents a similar work to Bart's and Bart reacts destroying both his and Milhouse's, making the whole class isolate him, while at home, Molly starts moving around the house evading the confinement that Lisa tried putting it into. Homer and Marge get called by Ms. Peyton to talk about Bart's behaviour, and at home, Homer discusses it with Bart thinking he got a crush on her, but Bart reveals he has met her before, when Lisa was doing her documentary.
He found a bucket for the Paradiso del Mare hotel, and got into the hotel's pool, and falling into the water with a belly flop, and failed to swim, but he got saved by her, but to save his pride he yelled at her, and he feels awful for what he did, thinking she's gonna hate him when she recognizes him. Homer advises him to just tell the truth and be honest, while Lisa finds out Molly is not safe in the house when it starts messing around with Santa's Little Helper, so she takes it to school. The next day, Bart however sees Ms. Peyton enter a closet with her husband and kiss, and gets mad, breaking the water fountain and realizing he's in love with her.
The new Seven Wonders of the World presentation day arrives, and Bart tells Homer his realization, and when Homer makes him realize it's an impossible love due to how she's a grownup and that there are amazing things that aren't meant to be his awesome thing, Lisa realizes she has to free Molly too. Bart tries to stop himself but seeing her husband again, he tries to follow Homer's advice, to punch something soft, but nothing can be found. When he finds out the husband is in a band, he tries screaming into something, and grabs Molly's jar, getting Molly on his face, and retreating the bleachers, throwing the balls to the people and destroying all projects.
Lisa manages to stop him and detaching Molly from his face, but the damage was done. Skinner asks her to not give up on the school and to switch classes but no-one agrees to take Bart, so the next day, Bart enters the class and tries to apologize for ruining the presentation, and tells her the truth about when they met, and how he has a crush on her. She tells him she's staying and Bart inadvertently tells her what his previous teacher made him do when he misbehaved, writing on the blackboard. In the end, Lisa frees Molly, saving her once again from the shark, to Database's frown.
