Synopsis[edit]

"Bart finds his old teacher's diary and learns a surprising secret. Then, Lisa discovers an even bigger surprise."

Plot[edit]

Ned Flanders is holding a garage sale, and the people of Springfield sing their way to his house. Many people buy his stuff, but then bullies, Lenny and Carl start destroying the stuff they bought. Ned gets angry when he sees that and that he got only $27 from the sale.

Bart and Milhouse buy a bunch of his books and use them to make a fire which Bart jumps over, but when he sits on a log after a failed recording of his antics, he picks up a barely burned diary, which he finds out being Edna Krabappel's, and he tries to throw it into the river before fleeing because they accidentally catch Springfield Mafia dumping a body in it.

At Bart's treehouse, they start reading the diary, and discover where Chalmers holds his car keys and steal his car. Using the teacher's lounge code, he enters the room, finding out what they do in there, doing a secondary job as a call center.

At Our Lady of Springfield church, Bart finds out that she thought he has potential, imagining himself working as the president chair tester, so Bart starts helping around the school and gets an "A" from a test. At dinner, they celebrate with a cake, but Marge and Lisa try to find how he cheated, and Lisa discovers the diary on the treehouse, finding out the feelings she was writing about weren't for Bart but for her cat.

She decides to lie to Bart getting anxiety and bumpies over it. Bart helps Willie too, giving him a pet bunny. Lisa gets prescribed some Xanax. At the Improvement Day awards, Bart gets recognized for his accomplishments, bringing him to participate at the Spelling Bee, but before he embarrasses himself, Lisa brings the truth to him.

At the treehouse, Marge tries to console him, but fails, but Ned comes up at night, telling him they were once thinking of leaving the town, but they didn't. They had a family meeting to vote, and Edna decided to stay to help boys like Bart that need her, that need to recognize the good that's trapped inside of them and is trying to get out.

Bart gives Ned the diary back, and he reads one paragraph in it, saying her thoughts on their time together, that made her life a living dream come true. A montage of the pictures in the diary is then shown in her memory.
