"Meat Is Murder" is the twenty-first episode of season 33 of The Simpsons and the seven-hundred and twenty-seventh episode overall. It originally aired on May 15, 2022. The episode was written by Michael Price and directed by Bob Anderson. It guest stars Nicholas Braun as Greg Hirsch, Charli D'Amelio as herself, Susan Egan as the singing tree, Seth Green as Mav Redfield, John Lithgow as Augustus Redfield, Edi Patterson as Jessica, Krysten Ritter as Sheila Redfield, and Paul F. Tompkins as Colby Redfield.
Synopsis
- "Grampa finds himself in a pickle when his hidden hamburger past comes back to "ketchup" with him."
Plot
50 years ago at The Village Turtleneck, Krusty performs his comedian act, without much success. To console himself he stops at the Worth-A-Try Burger, where he gets served by Gus a very fast prepared burger, with modesty on his side, as they're not getting many clients, and Krusty tells them how having someone to promote it could increase their business. This brings us back to the present, where it's Krusty Burger's 50th anniversary, at Krusty Fest.
Homer is watching the spot on TV and tells Marge to cancel the trip to the Holland Michigan Tulip Days as they're going to the Krusty Fest, to Marge's dismay. At Krusty Fest, Bart enjoys the movie Me and the Space Clown, while Marge gives Lisa a vegan burger, while Grampa refuses the hamburger sandwich as he's not eating any burger made by Krusty Burger, and Homer buys lots of burgers to fill pillow cases with a bag of 25 cents, but to Grampa's prediction of the Simpsons curse, they get eaten by hawks.
While Krusty is enjoying some caviar, Augustus Redfield, chairman of the RedStar Corporation, arrives announcing to him he's about to destroy his career, revealing to him how he is Gus and he's the 9th most rich person in the world, because he stole his restaurant idea 50 years prior, and he bought his parent company, saying he's finished, firing him from Krusty Burger, The Krusty the Clown Show and Krusty Enterprises. Krusty tries to win his customers again, but Augustus crushes him and invites his old partner too, revealing it was Abe.
Back to the Worth-A-Try Burger, Krusty is promoting the restaurant, with his clown act. He asks for half of the cut for his act but they refuse, tossing him in the dumpster, so Krusty opens up a Krusty Burger right across the restaurant, stealing the Triple Patty Flipper that idea he stole from them. Back in the present, Augustus invites Abe to his side, to enact full revenge. Grampa is resilient on trying due to fear of blowing it due to the Simpsons curse, but Lisa convinces him to try, but Grampa goes only on the condition of Lisa joining him.
After showing off his riches and children, Augustus shows Abe how he got their old stand back, but his daughter Sheila shows to Lisa how she's trying to rebrand RedStar to GreenStar, in more interest to the Earth, and they're going to do it on Monday, when Grampa votes Augustus off. At home, Homer and Bart watches Krusty's new show, Herschel the Comical Man Show!, with Nothing Mel, Him, and Mr. Teeny-Dog. Nelson laughs at him, while the children are getting ready to remove Augustus, with Sheila getting ready to seal Lisa's deal, showing her a movie against greenhouse gases to convince her for at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
At the meeting, Sheila makes the motion against his father. The decisive vote goes to Grampa who refuses, and thus the motion is denied, and Augustus removes his children from the company, but it was all his plan to fire his children while keeping his company, instead of getting back in business with Abe, who gets stepped on again. But he shows them his mental incompetence to nullify his vote, thus bringing it to a tie again, ruining all plans.
Lisa and Grampa leaves satisfied to have succeed in stop them, while in a kibbutz in Israel, Krusty is working on a field when he gets approached by the lawyer that tells him the good news of him being able to come back to his show and persona, to which he gracefully agrees to.
Production
Krusty's topper to the "Super Bowl" joke was going to be "Lucille BALL!" (bowling ball with red wig), but it was changed to a Superman joke.[1]
