Season 28 is the next season of The Simpsons. It will premiere on September 25, 2016.[2] The 4th episode of the season will be the 600th episode of the show.

Announcement

On May 4, 2015, FOX announced that The Simpsons had been renewed for seasons 27 and 28.[3]

After Homer catches Bart rooting for Springfield's football rival, the Boston Americans, he plans a family "hate-cation" trip to Boston in an attempt to show Bart that Boston is a terrible city.[19]

The three main segments include a satire of dystopian movies in which evil Mr. Burns controls the only water in a Springfield gone dry; a story in which an imaginary friend from Lisa's younger days returns to kill her real friends; and a James Bond-themed segment with accents of Kingsman: The Secret Service that features bartender Moe running a secret society that tries to keep order in the world.[21]

The first segment will have a Hunger Games-theme. Sideshow Bob and Frank Grimes will both be present.[23][24]

It turns out that Homer and Grandpa used to play chess a lot, and Homer got better than Grandpa who wouldn't play anymore. Then Homer learns that one theory in chess is you become good because you want to kill your father, and he wants to see if that's true. Magnus Carlsen says the only way he can find out is to play one last game against Grandpa.[41]

Homer and Lisa get addicted to Pokémon GO and wind up spending a lot of loot on Pokémon extras, but Lisa takes the rap for Homer and it starts to make her very upset. Meanwhile, Bart plays his own game — except he's making money, not spending it. Bart goes up to elderly women with no grandchildren and pretends to be their grandchildren in exchange for toys and gifts and cards with five dollars in them.[41]
