Cultural references

• The episode title is a parody of the film Dude, Where's My Car?.
• Christmas carols the Simpson family sing whilst caroling:
  • "Silver Bells" by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans.
  • "Winter Wonderland" by Felix Bernard and Richard Bernhard Smith.
  • "Hava-nice Christmas", a parody of the Jewish folk song "Hava Nagila".
  • "Sleigh Ride" by Leroy Anderson and Mitchell Parish.
• Krusty says that "Hava-nice Christmas" is worse than "I'm Dreaming of a Whitefish Christmas", a parody of "White Christmas".
• The blue-haired lawyer mentions the Christmas carols "O Tannenbaum", "Good King Wenceslas", and "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring".
• Homer hums "Good King Wenceslas" whilst his clothes start to fall apart.
• Moe calls David Byrne a "Talking Head", referring to his band Talking Heads.
• David Byrne says that he used to wrestle under the name "El Diablo", but Lenny says that he thought that was Philip Glass.
• The lyrics for "Everybody Hates Ned Flanders" say that Flanders is worse than Frankenstein or Dr. No from James Bond.
• The name of the store Styx and Stones Records is a reference to both the rock bands Styx and The Rolling Stones as well as a reference to the nursery rhyme "Sticks and stones may break my bones".
• William Shatner sings a version of "Everybody Hates Ned Flanders".
• The Wax Museum brochure shows Michael Jackson and Mr. T on the cover.
• The Denzel Washington Monument is a statue of actor Denzel Washington and a parody of the Washington Monument.
• The name Lazy I Ranch is a play on "lazy eye".
• One of the brochures is for Walter Gropius's Bauhaus Village.
• When Moe picks up David Byrne after he is badly injured, Byrne asks Moe to take him to the hospital. When Byrne asks why Moe drove right past it, Moe ask him "have you ever seen the movie Misery?". Misery is about a writer who is hurt in a blizzard and is taken in and held captive by a crazed fan of his work.
• The ranch's previous name, "Wandering I Nudist Colony" is a play on "wandering eye," which refers to visually checking out other people.
• Comic Book Guy says that if the smart fridge was truly smart, it would be filled with Hot Pockets.
• Lisa, unhappy with the ranch, is reading one of the Let's Go travel guides, Let's Go Home. Bart rides up and tells her, "Hey, Crabby Hayes, get with the program!" referencing the old-time actor in westerns, Gabby Hayes.
• Luke Stetson tells Lisa he needs someone to help him hang some "no hunting" and "free Tibet." The latter sign being a reference to Tibet's struggle for independence.
• When Cleanie comes in he says "My precious", the voice is a reference to The Lord of the Rings character Gollum. Cleanie was voiced by Andy Serkis, who provided the voice (and motion capture) for Gollum in the films.
• The Native Indians have a photo stand-in of [[|John Rambo|Rambo]] and Betty Boop.
• When Bart ropes Homer around the neck to save him from the beavers, it's a parody of the scene in which Marty McFly is roped by the hands in Back to the Future Part III.
• Lisa and Luke perform the folk song "Red River Valley".
• Maggie dances to "Oops!... I Did It Again" by Britney Spears.
• When the beavers are gnawing on the items in the mini bar, one of them can be seen chewing on a Toblerone. However, the package is the wrong shape, it should be a triangular prism but instead it's a rectangular prism.
• The Native Indians give Homer and Bart Fresca to drink.
• "Moe, Moe, Moe" by Moe Szyslak Connection is a parody of the song "More, More, More" by Andrea True Connection.

• Rabbi Hyman Krustofsky makes an appearance in this episode, voiced by Dan Castellaneta.

Goofs

• When Bart read the leaflet for the ranch, he said that there would be no radio at the ranch. However, in a later scene, Maggie is seen dancing to a song on the radio.
• The sound of the footsteps when Clara is running across the log do not match her actual footsteps.
