- Padz is a parody of MTV Cribs.
- Krusty shows Padz the recliner where "Don Adams and Shelley Winters made beautiful music together."
- When Elliott Gould punches Krusty, he names his physical blows after the title characters in his film Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice.
- The banner on the Springfield Mall claims that it is Disney Store-free.

- This is the second episode that Lisa had a birthday. The first time was in the Season 3 premiere episode: "Stark Raving Dad".
- Despite this, Lisa is still considered as 8 years old in subsequent episodes, despite the fact this would have theoretically been the point in which she turned 9.
- It's implied that Rod Flanders is diabetic.
- It's mentioned that Carl has severe schizophrenia and he cobbles shoes at night with no memory as a result.
