Food/Drink Information
Type: Fungi
First appearance: "The Real Housewives of Fat Tony"

Truffles are the fruiting bodies of a fungi species which unlike more common mushroom varieties grows entirely underground. They are very valuable partly because they are very hard to find in the wild. Pigs have a natural attraction to the scent of truffles and have traditionally been used to locate them underneath the ground. The "fanciest restaurant in (Springfield)" is named the Gilded Truffle.[1]

History[edit]

After licking a tree for an hour, Bart was able to sniff out truffles and dig them out from under the tree. His sister, Lisa, gave the truffles to Luigi and he offered Bart money for them if he could find more.[2]

Carl said to Lenny "Sounds like Homer, but smells like truffles." when they saw Plopper the pig at Homer's work station.[3]
