"Undercover Burns" is the first episode of season 32 of The Simpsons and the six-hundred and eighty-fifth episode overall. It originally aired on September 27, 2020. The episode was written by David Cryan and directed by Bob Anderson. It guest stars David Harbour as Fred Kranepool and Phil Rosenthal as himself.
Synopsis[edit]
- "Mr. Burns goes undercover as "Fred" at the nuclear power plant and becomes friends with Homer and the gang. Burns implements all sorts of amenities to improve his employees' lives, but a jealous Smithers plots to bring the old, bitter Burns back and destroy Fred."
Plot[edit]
At the Power Plant, it's "Take Your Kids to Work Day." Lenny, not having kids, hires two, but one deserts him after being called to another job for Krusty. When the parents leave their kids with Mr. Burns, he turns it into "Put Your Kids to Work Day," forcing them to work at the plant. Lisa escapes and follows Burns, accusing him, but Burns flees into the bathroom. Lisa leaves, disgusted by a decomposing tuna sandwich left on the sink. Burns checks the writing on the bathroom stalls, reacts innocently to lewd artwork, and discovers multiple drawings showing employees' hatred for him. In desperation, Burns opens the door to the ladies' bathroom and finds a hanging Burns effigy set on fire.
