Synopsis[edit]
- "Marge and Lisa's mother-daughter Valentine's Day plans take a turn when Lisa meets Nick, an intellectual romantic who shares the same passion for culture, history and literature. Lisa and Nick fall head over heels for each other in a fairytale romance and make a secret getaway to Mulberry Island to profess their eternal love. Meanwhile, Bart and Milhouse are inspired by the show "MythCrackers" to "crack" Springfield Elementary's own legends."
Plot[edit]
Bart and Milhouse are reading their Valentine's Day cards and Milhouse becomes jealous as he only got two cards and Bart got more so, to take their mind off it, they start watching TV. After Marge throws them out of the house (after they attempted to watch TV on a laptop and a MyPhone), they continue to watch their show, MythCrackers at a gas station and the two decide to start cracking myths. Their first myth is: is it dangerous to use a mobile phone at a gas station. To test it out, Milhouse flips open his phone, and when it starts to crackle, he throws it to the other side of the gas station and it explodes. Meanwhile, Homer prepares himself for his Valentine's Day date with Marge (which includes eating a rose to make his breath smell like one). Marge tells Homer to take Bart somewhere, because Homer can express his love for Marge every single day. Bart and Homer visit the Testoster-Zone (with many onlookers) while Marge takes Lisa to a restaurant. Marge watches a man put a spoon for one sauce into another and goes to get a separator. Lisa becomes alone at the table and discovers a Hemingway-esque-boy in the next booth, Nick The two go together and pick one desert from desert table.
Bart and Milhouse continue to crack myths at school. Their second myth is: if you press E8 on the vending machine, you will be electrocuted and die. Milhouse presses "E" and "8", but all that comes out of the machine is candy cigarettes', which Nelson becomes addicted to. Meanwhile, Lisa is at Le Petite Appétit with Nick and becomes so happy that she loses track of time and she is late to help Marge sew a blanket at the The Needle Exchange. Days go by and Bart and Milhouse break myths one after another while Lisa continues hanging out with Nick. Lisa realizes that she is in love with Nick and tells Marge, who lets Lisa invite Nick over for dinner. At the dinner, Nick persuades Marge to let him take Lisa to the Doritos Nutrition Fair at the school gym. Marge realizes that Lisa is spending too much time with Nick and misses their friendship, so she lets her go if she promises to spend less time with Nick afterwards.
Lisa makes a visit to Grampa, who tells Lisa that Marge does appreciate Nick, and then begins tell her the story of Pyramus and Thisbe. This causes Lisa to get help from Abe to steal a kiss from Nick under a Mulberry tree. Bart and Milhouse have now broken all myths in school, making everyone realize that school is basically just school. When Bart sees Willie acting like a dog when he looks at himself in a mirror, he comes up with a way to make school cool again.
Grampa agrees to give Nick and Lisa a lift to Mulberry Island in the Springfield Retirement Castle Excursion Shuttle, but he gets stopped a few miles away from the island by the police - he has the TV remote in his pocket, which forces everyone at the Retirement Castle to watch a program in Spanish. Nick and Lisa must find a new way to get to Mulberry Island and pass Cletus, who gives them a lift. After Cletus drives off, Nick starts to act unlike his previous self, and makes Lisa do all the rowing to the island. Grampa has told Marge and Homer what he has done so they drive to the island to pick up Lisa. Nick and Lisa arrive at the island and when they are about to kiss, Lisa realizes that she will be making a mistake if she kisses him - as a kiss under the tree is supposed to represent eternal love. After imagining what Hemingway's ex-wives said about him, she starts to lose feelings for Nick. Marge - who has walked over the lake wearing water shoes, arrives at the island. Nick walks off, ending the relationship. The two start to walk back to the mainland using water shoes. Homer takes a watercraft to pick them up, but when he turns it on, he goes forward into the water. Homer comes back up onto the surface, but goes into the water again.
