Cultural references
- The episode title is probably a reference to the Sherlock Holmes novel and film The Seven-Per-Cent Solution, as well as a reference the standard agent commission of 10%.
- Krusty states that the references in the Itchy & Scratchy cartoons are over a year old because the cartoons take a year to animate so they seem outdated. The references are:
- During The Cat's Speech, when Adolf Hitler is shown driving a swastika'd steam roller over a prostrate Scratchy, Maggie raises her arm in the Nazi salute. Maggie's arm is lowered by Lisa, with a nervous laugh.
- Hulu is a real-life video streaming website.
- Seen in the Museum of TV and Television:
- The Three Stooges skeletons.
- King of the Hill display (which is then packed up).
- The Batmobile which is bought by Comic Book Guy.
- Several other Batman items from the classiv TV series.
- A display of J. R. Ewing from Dallas.
- The Starship Enterprise from Star Trek.
- A parody of Superman.
- The Adventures of Fatso Flanagan, a parody of The Honeymooners.
- When Homer's pants get split in back, he mentions that he has a tattoo of Donald Duck smoking a "doob" (short for "doobie", a marijuana cigarette), meant for Marge's eyes only.
- Marge calls Homer overweight sitcom characters: Ralph The Honeymooners, Fred The Flintstones, Archie All in the Family, King of Queens.
- Annie Dubinsky asks Homer if he would play a bloated corpse on CSI.
- Krusty's agent has a S-Mobile phone, a parody of T-Mobile.
- Ronald McDonald, mascot of McDonald's, is seen in The Clown Plaza Hotel.
- A scene from The Ricky Gervais Show is seen briefly.
- The music played during "The Cat's Speech" is "Symphony No. 7" by Beethoven
- The song played during "The Social Petwork" is "Creep" by Scala & Kolacny Brothers.
- The music played during "Black & Blue Swan" is "Danse des Petite Cygnes" from Swan Lake.
- In the 60's flashback scene, the club "The Village Id" is a reference to the Freudian term "id" and a shortened form of Village Idiot. In the background New York City's Washington Square Arch and the Empire State Building are seen.
Continuity
- On Hulu, there is a video called "Moe Gets a Cell Phone", previously mentioned in the song "They'll Never Stop the Simpsons" along with the same image. ("Gump Roast")
- Seen in the Museum of TV and Television:
Goofs
- Princess Kashmir has black skin and brown hair in one scene.
- In one scene where Bart has his legs crossed and is sitting on the floor at the Simpsons' house, his shoes are missing (as in not been added to the frame).
