- Homer imagines Bart as a Butterfinger bar, a reference to how Bart used to be star in its commercials.
- The music that plays when Homer begins remembering the chili dogs is the "Flower Duet" from the opera Lakmé.
- The composition is also heard when Homer leaves Mr. Burns office via the trap door.
- Bart says Fatman Begins, a reference to Batman Begins.
- Deuce says he can barely remember the starting lineup of the 1961 Chicago Blackhawks ice hockey team and then names several players (Bobby Hull, Al Arbour, Ed Litzenberger, Stan Mikita and Dollard St. Laurent).
