- Barney's mother is coming from Norway the following Sunday after the Super Bowl.
- Homer gives Marge a "Meryl Streep's Versatility" perfume that has the shape of an Oscar statuette. Streep has won the Academy Awards in 3 occasions and has been nominated 21 times.
- Homer bought an Alfa Romeo car for Lisa's Malibu Stacy.
- Homer was going to watch the Super Bowl XXVI, the game between the Washington Redskins and the Buffalo Bills at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. This episode aired three days before the actual game, which took place on January 26, 1992.
- Later in the episode, the Washington Redskins end up winning, just as they did in real life.
- The Super Bowl affiliate "W-Gimel-Aleph-Nun" based in Tel Aviv, Israel is a reference to the Hebrew alphabet, and the letters form WGAN, which is an American commercial AM radio station.
- In Paris, Ugolín and César laugh at a Jerry Lewis show on TV.
- Troy McClure makes a reference to The Odd Couple TV series when he talks about his new show Handle with Care .
- During the Super Bowl half-time show, the aliens perform a modified version of "Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley & His Comets.
- Lisa says she and Homer used to compete in burping contests, which Lisa did in "Burping Contest".
- The episode was reedited 3 times to change predicted winner of Super Bowl. Each time she was right.[1]
- The right button on Bart's gift from Homer gives two different quotes ("Shut up!" and "Go to hell!") instead of the one quote it should give.
- Tanya's hair is colored differently in this episode.
- When Homer came into Lisa's bedroom after buying the chinchilla coat (and someone taking it), the door is closed, but Homer never shut it. A few shots later, it is open, and in a few shots, it is closed again.
