The Simpsons: Tapped Out Thanksgiving 2014/"Covercraft" episode tie-in content update was released on November 20, 2014, file-named "v4_11_Thanksgiving2014_Patch1_PreLaunch". It was 13.7MB. This update included the "Heimlich Machine", one frame of the animation of which, now altered, was found in the Halloween 2014 event.

The "Thanksgiving" menu in the store is unlocked after completing the "myPad" quest and starting the "Thanksgiving Season 2014" quest. Its description states, "Thanksgiving has landed! For a limited time, get all the Thanksgiving items here!". The episode tie-in content will be available until 8am GMT on November 25, 2014. The Thanksgiving content will not wholly disappear until December 2, 2014 at 8am GMT, at which point the event will end.

On November 26, 2014, a sponsored link appeared on the Reddit sub-reddit "Tapped Out", seemingly from EA, reading "Hey Redditors! The true season of shopping- er, giving will start this weekend in The Simpsons: Tapped Out with our Black Friday Promotions, running every hour, all weekend long! All the fun of Black Friday without any of the being crushed to death!" implying there will be deals and promotions of items on Black Friday, November 28, 2014. ^[1]

On November 27, 2014, Thanksgiving, a 13.8MB in-game update was installed, adding the Black Friday deals.

The Black Friday deals launch on November 28, 2014 at 8am GMT. There will be a donut deal/"rebate" on Black Friday, and an offer to buy the Truckasaurus for 225 on Cyber Monday.

Are you sure you’re not thinking of the 1977 movie “Black Sunday”? Actually I’m thinking of the 1984 Raiders victory. It was a bleak day for everyone. L.A. should never have been allowed to have a football team. Well, Black Friday has nothing to do with football, or anything else fun. It’s about shopping for deals in the most unpleasant way possible! And to celebrate we’re offering limited-time donut rebates on selected items! That doesn’t sound bad. What’s the unpleasant part? Rather than offer all our deals at once for the whole weekend, we’re offering them one at a time every hour for an hour.
