Planet Simpson: How a Cartoon Masterpiece Documented an Era and Defined a Generation is a non-fiction book about the effect The Simpsons has had on popular culture. Written by Chris Turner, the book is 466 pages long (including the index) and contains eleven chapters, an introduction, and a foreword by Douglas Coupland. There is a chapter for every member of the family, save for Maggie and the pets. The foreword was written by Douglas Coupland.

Chapters

Planet Simpson contains eleven chapters, including Bart Simpson, Punk Icon (chapter three), Citizen Burns (chapter four) and The Ugly Springfieldianite (chapter eight). The cover page of each chapter contains a picture, as well as a quote from the programme, and a quote or song lyric from a real person.
