Cultural references

  • The title is a reference to the extremely unsuccessful, Golden Raspberry Award-winning movie Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot!.
  • The song played when Santa's Little Helper looks for Homer in the maze is KoЯn's "Freak on a Leash". The scene follows Santa's Little Helper's path; the video for "Freak on a Leash" follows the path of a bullet.
  • In Bart's vision, Santa's Little Helper becomes a dog version of RoboCop and shoots down a giant, living math book, Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th and Pinhead from Hellraiser.
  • The last line of the show is Groundskeeper Willie after he adopted Strangles, saying, "That'll do snake. That'll do." This is a parody of a famous line from the film Babe. This is also a parody of the line in Shrek, when he says to Donkey "That'll do, Donkey. That"ll do".
  • Chief Wiggum and Lou debate whether Shamrock Shakes—sold at McDonald's but the restaurant is not named—are mint-flavored shakes or just vanilla shakes dyed green. Lou insists the chief only thinks he tastes the mint because the shake is green. In actuality, the shakes are vanilla, lightly flavored with mint extract, and dyed green.

Trivia

  • In the scene where Santa's Little Helper and Lou are about to have sex with the poodle and the other woman, Lou said, "Okay, so who's going with who?", meaning that Lou may be a zoophile, which is a person that has sex with animals.
  • Snakes, particularly boa constrictors, are apparently sold by the foot in Springfield. The device used to cut the snake resembles a paper trimmer commonly found in craft stores. The snake looked less than pleased when "shortened."
  • Some of the entrants in the cornucopia contest include the farmers from "E-I-E-I-(Annoyed Grunt)" and Zeke's owner from "Mr. Plow"
