Episode Information
|
"Yokel Hero" is the fourteenth episode of season 32 of The Simpsons and the six-hundred and ninety-eigth episode overall. It originally aired on March 7, 2021. The episode was written by Jeff Martin and Samantha Martin, and directed by Rob Oliver. It guest stars Albert Brooks as Slick manager.
Synopsis
- "Cletus becomes a singing sensation, while Homer becomes a new man. Then, Cletus turns on his fans, ruining everything."
Plot
At Moe's Tavern, it's Carl's birthday, where Homer recieves a call from Marge to get back home. Homer gives Moe his car keys to keep, which he makes a copy of, among others.
Moe calls a Uber for Homer and Barney shows up, so Homer comes back on foot while Barney drunk antics continue as he asks himself to take him to Moe's while he was there and give himself 5 stars for it.
Homer wobbles home while singing and a cop takes him to jail for the night for being a danger to the city, like making Kirk fall in the water or divelting lamposts, and he calls Marge that says to not come home and throws a I love you paper in the "missed dinners" box.
He's put in jail with Cletus, that sings him a song with a guitar, about family, that makes him think, and when he comes home, he makes a promise to become a "perfect example", making Bart stand up when Marge enters the room.
Homer next makes them pray and Marge believes in the change and Homer closes with "And that was that." before the credits start to roll, interrupted by Cletus announcing that there were two more acts and a "whittled by" credit.
In the morning, Marge asks Homer if he remembers what happened last night, and he does, and finds out the car is missing. Moe is seeing washing it at a car wash, wanting to feel how it feels to own a car.
Homer brings the family to Cletus's farm, to show them the man that showed him the new life, and asks him if he can become his manager, starting his carreer at Divey's Bar. Cletus signs the management contract on a Beer of the month club paper and Homer becomes his manager officially.
Cletus starts singing and playing guitar at Divey's Bar and then at Li'l Nicer Cabaret and the Now We're Talkin' Lounge, before becoming so popular he appears at Elin Degenerous's Elin Degenerous Show.
Production
The episode was supposed to air on February 28, 2021, but due to "Diary Queen" being pre-empted to February 21, 2021 due to Daytona 500 delays, it was pre-empted to March 7, 2021.[1][2][3]
