Opening sequence[edit]
- The opening sequence is a parody of 127 Hours.
- Homer gets his arm trapped like Aron Ralston and gnaws through several limbs, before gnawing through his trapped arm. Ralston had to amputate his own arm to get released.
- 127 Hours is also referenced in the episode "The Blue and the Gray", where Homer tries to chew through his leg when he is unable to untie his foot from a bedpost. After knawing on his leg for a few secounds he declares he only has "127 hours to go!"
- Maggie pops out of Bart's astronaut costume in a reference to the Chestburster in Alien.
