The Springfield Pool-Mobile is a semi-trailer truck with a swimming pool built onto the flatbed trailer. It makes stops at various locations in Springfield. Unfortunately, due to budget constraints the city only operates it for one day out of the summer.
History[edit]
Bart and Lisa were grumbling about the hot weather, feeling let down by the ice cream truck being sold out, while the chili truck was fully stocked with red-hot Texas-style chili. Lisa said, "Our salvation isn't just going to roll by on the back of some stupid truck." Just then, however, the Springfield Pool-Mobile pulled up in front of their house, with Otto driving. As he stopped, a wave from the pool sloshed into the cab of the truck, soaking him from head to toe.
Many neighborhood kids came out to play in the pool, and they had a great time until Otto said that time was up and everybody had to get out. The kids groaned as they left the pool, and Lisa incredulously asked "Time's up?" Bart, however, thinking quickly, announced he was going to stow away under the water and go where the pool went. He ducked under the water, but quickly came up spluttering and gasping. Otto lifted him out of the water and apologized: "Sorry, Bart-dude. We gotta fill this thing with epsom salts and jam it on over to the old folks' home." Bart then asked if Otto would be back tomorrow, but Otto said, "No way, man. One day of summer is all we're budgeted for. I guess it is kind of a tease."
After that, Bart and Lisa successfully pestered Homer into buying the family a swimming pool.
