Barti[edit]

• It's a parody of the film Bambi, where Barti is a parody of the main character Bambi.
• The narrator mentions Disney and the parents of the protagonists of their movies being killed in them.
• The characters parody those of the Disney film:
  • Barti is a parody of the main character Bambi.
  • Barti's rabbit friend (Milhouse Van Houten) is a parody of Thumper. Thumper is known and named for his habit of thumping his left hind foot, something that Milhouse does after getting shot.
  • The owl that looks like Professor Frink is a parody of Friend Owl, a supporting character in Bambi.
  • Barti's mother (Marge) is a parody of Bambi's mother.
  • Barti's father (Homer) is a parody of The Great Prince of the Forest, Bambi's father.
• The song "I'm Shipping Up to Boston" by Dropkick Murphys is heard when the opening sequence finishes.

The segment is a parody of Bong Joon-ho's Oscar-winning Parasite

• It's a parody of the 2019 South Korean film Parasite, directed by Bong Joon-ho.
• The picture on the wall of at the Wolfcastle residence is a reference to The Singing Butler.
• The Itchy & Scratchy Show episode "D'oh Piercer" is a reference to the movie Snowpiercer, a South Korean-American science fiction film also directed by Bong Joon-ho.

Nightmare on Elm Tree[edit]

• It's a parody of the film A Nightmare on Elm Street.
  • The film was previously parodied in the segment "Nightmare On Evergreen Terrace" from Season 7 episode "Treehouse of Horror VI".
• Guardians of the Galaxy is shown at the drive-in and Groot and Rocket Raccoon appear on the screen.
• Professor Frink mentions the Doppler effect.
• The song "O Tannenbaum" plays at the Springfield Christmas Tree Farm, and later when the trees have killed everyone.
• The phrase "Today we celebrate our Arbor Day" is a reference to "Today, we celebrate our Independence Day", a line in the 1996 film Independence Day said by President Thomas J. Whitmore (Bill Pullman).
• The walking tree mentions the Dutch elm disease. A tree wearing traditional Dutch clogs and cap is seen.
• Treebeard from The Lord of the Rings is seen walking with the other trees.
